The reason everyone loves college basketball is because it is not about the money. It is about student athletes choosing the best school for them and playing for that school. Playing for their teammates, coaches, and school, and not for the best profit. So let’s keep it that way.
In this tweet, Mr. Whitlock is demonstrating support for college athletes to be paid. He believes that the profit made by schools because of many athletes, means that they deserve a part of this profit. However, college athletes should not be paid for numerous reasons.
In addition, paying student athletes would lead to corruption in the NCAA. Coaches offering athletes extra money to attend their school, promising higher profits, and deceiving athletes would all be common. This would lead to make problems for players, coaches, and programs.
