Happy #HDday#ClassicsTwitter - feeling lucky to be able to spend the next two years of my PhD in the company with of such a brilliant mind. My papa had scary complex surgery today but it went well and he’s in recovery - choosing to believe Hecate gave him a helping hand.
We were very lucky to welcome the amazing @bettanyhughes and @officialnhaynes to 5x15 yesterday! Thank-you to everyone who tuned in & for the amazing questions. Due to popular demand we hope to stage a re-run very soon! A recording is now available here:

Please during these times continue to give and support @Libertinopatren@SportulaEurope@BlackTrowel and the other aid orgs that are doing the bulk of the support work for marginalized classicists and ancient studies scholars 🙏🏽 #ClassicsTwitter
Your day will be like...

Our first session of #TQGNF21 is tomorrow! The scheduled talks have been swapped around a little in the inevitable pre-conference last-minute way - tomorrow we have @chrismologos @spacedolphin__ , Nemo Gorecki and Carolina Sanchez-Palencia speaking, with a keynote by @Anasemia 🤩
Very pleased to see that the Classical Association has launched this hardship grant scheme! Both their overall annual budget for this, and the maximum grant amount, are much larger than anything we can offer. Full details of eligibility etc are in the post below.
The first application deadline is in less than three weeks, so please share this widely - especially with self-funded PhD students in your departments or those whose funding period has ended, and who have no access to internal / departmental hardship funds.
My take on the discussions (which are somehow *still* happening on the Liverpool List) about the need for Classicists to have reading proficiency in two ancient and (at least) four modern languages - who's willing to pay for that?
During #WomenHistoryMonth we saw ancient roman women working, writing, ruling. But, as an illustrator, I can't forget that Roman women could also be fine artist! This I AD #FrescoFriday from the House of the Surgeon in @pompeii_sites portrays a woman painting a statue of Priapus

As people in the UK can start playing outdoor sports again today, here are a few #MosaicMonday examples for inspiration, in case you’ve forgotten what exercise with someone else looks like...
