We need sustainable transport!
Well done @fmwales for choosing #NoNewM4. This road across the wildlife-rich Gwent Levels would've increased traffic & emissions.
We are asking candidates in #Senedd2021 to support our ongoing campaign to keep @GwentLevels free of motorways - and to work towards sustainable transport for all.
The future of @GwentLevels continually threatened by damaging development proposals. We have David and Goliath battles on our hands, for which we need a fighting fund. Please help by donating, sharing and sharing again.

Hahaha - it turns out that there were plans to build a station at St Mellons long before @HendreLakes made out that it was all their own idea and that there would need to be a 'business district' to justify it. This is from the 1880s.
@GabbyLogan@GabbyLogan it's really sad that you posted this, and that it was picked up on by the media. We don't need new roads. We need better public transport and to stop our reliance on cars and motorways if we have any chance of surviving as a country and a planet. #COP27
@Jonny7Jonny7@DaiFawkes@LeslieH24367191@trussliz@WelshGovernment@PrifWeinidog Do you have any data on the current levels of traffic on the M4 through Newport? It only required a 20% reduction in commuter traffic to make the traffic flow and it seems that hybrid working post-Covid has already achieved that. We just don't need a relief road now.
Along with our friends @GwentWildlife and @CPRW_UK we've been busy preparing submissions to try to stop another massive solar farm on the Levels. Renewable energy good - plastering solar panels all over fragile wetland ecosystems bad. #biodiversitycrisis#ecosystems
@YoungmanMj But people don't use the train in the way that they use air travel. If it's to be a viable alternative to jumping in the car then you shouldn't have to plan it three weeks in advance.
@AndyBurnhamGM A lot of people - probably most people - don't want to be completely tied to a train journey booked months or weeks ahead. If we're to encourage more people to travel by train then fares need to be flexible and affordable.
We are furious too. This is not in the spirit of @WelshGovernment plans for a Future Wales. It's outdated thinking and has no place in 2022 @sophiehowe@MarkDrakeford
We are furious about this. A railway station here is a good idea - though not a park and ride that brings in hundreds of cars every day. The 'business district' on SSSI is a damaging white elephant. As @orbiscat rightly said, the developers held a gun to @cardiffcouncil's head.
The idea of constructing new office space with parking for hundreds of cars on the outskirts of Cardiff is wrong and totally at odds with @WelshGovernment policy on how we should be shaping our future.
@cardiffcouncil appear to have approved plans for a massive new 'business park' on SSSI land, profoundly harming #biodiversity. There are 1000s of sq ft of empty office space in Cardiff already. Please, @WGClimateChange, put a stop to this madness. It's 2022 - not 1975.
WHAT????!!! Have we learned nothing about the benefits of green space for mental and physical health? It's 2022, guys. Let's stop turning the world into one big car park. How about better public transport and then people won't need so many cars?
Here are two beauties you might see on a daily basis on the Gwent Levels - the elusive Cetti's warbler and the even more elusive water rail. But they're under constant threat from speculative development. Join us to help protect them. https://t.co/5s8kgFaZys
This was an honour for us too - to be able to share the happiness of our successful outcome with like-minded people. @saverimrose is a fantastic campaign and they deserve every bit of luck and love they can get.
It was a real honour to take part in @WildlifeTrusts 'Wild LIVE' panel last night. Catherine's story of the @GwentLevels campaign gave us HOPE. They defeated proposals to extend the M4, proving it CAN be done. Hear this and other amazing stories here:
