@mitcheels1 I'm always with the Gold & Green. We need to somehow be proud to bring our Australian patriotism back. Own it positively & spread the good cheer.
@LeagueScenePod I get they want to widen the net & avoid 80 point blow outs in early stages of tournaments but eligibility going to stretch to taking a holiday in a country soon.
Super night at the RLWC. Australia far too good. Samoan fans provided sensational atmosphere. Great Experience for the family... wish it started at 7pm instead of 8:05pm.
@Kidcowboy2 Yep. Doing the right thing in private is easy. When it failed & the house burnt down, he watched the 24yo rookie get thrown to the wolves while staying silent in public. That’s the key here. If you are in the room, you share the hit. Usman instead took notes for his memoir.
I don't doubt the facts of Usman Khawaja. However, leaving a rookie & your captain to take the full hit back in 2018 while u makes notes & sit in the shadows bc you don't want to argue with bowlers & your captain said "I'm taking all the heat" misses the entire point of the "Baggy Green".
When you rep your country you share the battle, you share the burden. It’s about custodianship of the Australian Test position, not personal brand management. Elite cricket culture used to be simple: Stand tall, leave the cap in a better state than u found it & never let your mate walk to the gallows alone. Smudge taking the brunt just should not have been an option - stand by your mate when he is in a fight - especially when you are in on a plan to fight fire with fire on the world stage. Drip-feeding self-justifications on socials to clarify your own book isn't leadership. It’s self-preservation.
@My_Other_Place Doing the right thing in private is easy, champ! When it fails & the house burns down, u don't watch the 24yo rookie get thrown to the wolves while u stay silent in the presser. That’s the point. If u were in the room, you share the hit. Usman instead took notes for his memoir.
@sandylanceley Always thought Bancroft was thrown under the bus by team leadership. He was a fairly new member of the team-there would have been a lot of pressure on him to do this. Knowing now that all were aware, that pressure would have been even worse.
@sandylanceley That most most junior player took the key fall, while the senior bowling cartel pleaded blind ignorance is the stuff of fairyland & beanstalk beans. It shows the gutless culture within the coaching & senior playing group. They should have walked out tight like the Storm In 2010
@craddock_cmail Playing victim cards on repeat is the polar opposite of Team Leadership. His comments & this "what about me - it isn't fair" perspective franked the decision made by CA. Instead of Team First it's "What about Usman!". Good player - Glad he wasn't Captain.
