@BlombergEmily I agree. I think this demonstrates “shared power” rather than “power over” which builds better relationships, student confidence, a healthier classroom environment.. the benefits are endless. I don’t think there’s any reason to not accept student feedback unless it’s for power.

@LyonsJennica Absolutely! I really think this helps with our more challenging friends, too. Sometimes their SMART goal is staying in the classroom. Sometimes it’s sitting in a chair. That’s okay! It’s all about meeting them where they’re at.

@MissHerbers This was a new concept for me to learn, apparently my parents didn't use much of this type of reinforcement as I was growing up. I like the idea of this, though. I hadn't thought of working with kids in this way, I bet it would really help in some situations!

@DestreeKimberly Learning your students preferred name (and how to say it correctly) is the most basic way to show respect. It shows you care about them, their culture, and their self expression. Not doing so shows insult, carelessness, and lack of respect. This is SO important to me.
