There’s not a single day I’d ever wish to be from SLU. Not one single day. Not an ounce. You can be upset about Dayton for sure. But to spend one second wishing you were SLU shows you’re incredibly nearsighted. It’s fine your shtick has made you do that. But it’s incredibly sad.
Dayton’s best 5 is really, really fucking good. Bennett, Derkack, Jones, Montgomery, Frenchie can play with just about anyone. Shame the coach doesn’t seem to see it. You win this game if that’s your starting lineup
The eve of the opener. The dawn of a new season. Everything in front of us & all we need is us. Don’t need to see made shots. Don’t care about Xs & Os. Won’t blink at missed FTs or TOs. I simply want to be hard to beat. I just want RESILIENCY. With that said. Go Dayton Flyers.
I'm sure the comp has been made, but Scottie is Tim Duncan. Never going to run you out of the gym or dunk all over you. Just going to wear you down with consistent greatness. Great winner, great champion. The fact that it's boring is very much the point.

14 games. 12 wins. A handful of live line winning bets. Just 1 Ted Valentine officiated game. But 1 Darn Good Building. They don’t do it like we do it. Til next year you big ole arena on the banks of the Great Miami River.
Boooooooooooooooo. I disavow! What’s ball without a moderately to low level athletic person rolling their ankles in an effort to rebound and pass for players. DISAVOW.
2nd half: Only take 3s that come from inside out. One advance pass on every defensive rebound. If they cut across your face for a back door layup…you’re coming out the game. Go Flyers.
We're down to the last 9 teams in college basketball who have yet to play a true road game this season:
Colorado
Dayton
Houston
Miami (FL)
Oklahoma
Texas Tech
UCF
Utah
Virginia Tech
To me and my brain the single most important stat for Dayton vs Marq: Who wins DEFLECTIONS. Who prevents flow & rhythm? Who stops ball rotation? Deflection=block, tipped pass, back tip, steal, strips on drives to the baskets, poked rebounds. DEFLECTIONS. DEFLECTIONS. DEFLECTIONS.
@DavidPJablonski Dayton 83 Marquette 80 F/OT
Tiebreaker: I celebrate in the Flight Deck quietly whispering to myself “They just don’t do it like we do it” and say a prayer for the road team knowing they have to climb that big ole ramp to catch their bus.
2 teams entered tonight’s game disappointed to be in the 7th place game. One teams CULTURE and togetherness won the moment. It wasnt the 2x champions. It was the Dayton Flyers. Don’t ever drop the rope.
Rebounds flipped. Game flipped. Sure, some of that has to do with a lower 2H FG% but at LEAST 9 of UNC’s 2H points came from “that’s gotta be our ball” rebounds, but they weren’t. Tough on the gut loss is gonna show just who we are. Iowa St tomorrow. Only way out is through.
