New from me on the Starlink/shield fiasco. To paraphrase Talleyrand, it is worse than a crime; it is a mistake.
The long term blowback on the United States will be immense. https://t.co/xZereuIrfa
This has been Putin's dream for years: That his country, with GDP per capita lower than Poland, unable to conquer Donbas since 2014, will be treated as an equal to the US and China.

This comment on Allies not fighting in Afghanistan is shocking and unacceptable. More than a thousand soldiers from NATO and partner nations died in Afghanistan.
I worked with the Allies for years as part of the NATO coalition in Afghanistan. The Allies were there bleeding alongside the US. Hegseth is full of BS.
Donald Trump is threatening to cripple Ukraine in its survival—and to expose Europe to Russian aggression—seemingly for the pitiful prize of minimising his losses in next month’s midterm elections https://t.co/1xnBivvs6A
Over 1000 soldiers from NATO countries died fighting alongside US troops in Afghanistan.
And Hegseth denigrates their sacrifice.
Any wonder why allies do not rush to send forces to Trump/Hegseth’s wat of choice against Iran?
"In total, over this past week, the Russians have attacked Ukraine with almost 2,700 attack drones, 1,700 aerial bombs, and 66 missiles, most of them ballistic. The main targets of these strikes are energy facilities – the Russians are trying to cause a blackout" @ZelenskyyUa@UKRinNATO
how to lose your allies. Denmark, Estonia, others turned up, no caveats, fought hard, took casualties at or above US levels. (remind me, did Hegseth see combat?)
457 UK armed forces personnel died during the war in Afghanistan. Beyond those and US fatalities, a further 703 individuals from 30 nations were killed. Hegseth owes each of their families an apology.
PS I’ve met Putin many times and listened in on calls with him as well. I also speak Russian. Yes he is soft spoken, deliberate, and measured. So what? He’s still a killer. He still launched a barbaric invasion of Ukraine, that has produced tragic loss of life not seen on this scale in Europe since WWII.
Shameful. Over a thousand Allied Soldiers were killed in Afghanistan fighting alongside US Soldiers and Marines. Why would the Secretary think it was appropriate to disparage our Allies in front of these young Cadets, future Officers?

Hegseth on Afghanistan:
I was a captain in Afghanistan, and we would go to the headquarters in Kabul, and there would be 50 flags at the headquarters.
It was a beautiful thing to see 50 different countries contributing to the NATO alliance and the ISAF mission there.
Except there were like maybe five that contributed. It was actually closer to one or two that, by the end, were actually involved in kinetic operations.
In fact, the ISAF patch, we would joke that it meant "I Saw Americans Fighting."
@clashreport I was posted in Lashkar Gah, Helmand Province in 2010-2011 as part of Denmark’s support to ISAF - in response to the attack on the US on 9-11. Helmand saw 1/3 of all kinectic activity in Afghanistan. 43 Danish soldiers were KIA & more than 210 seriously wounded. #FactsMatter
