the jars the flowers are kept in seem to function as their body, as we can see in Flowery’s clash with the Knight, he begins to crack like glass. there is also an unused graphic of a “heart” which seems like it was for a battle, it shares a similar black outline with the SOUL
Have we considered the possibility of literally everyone being goners and not just Kris (if I were to do a take on something like simulation theory it’d be like this)
@RedactedAtlas This is sorta what ive been considering for a while now, if the Lightworld is a lesser world to Undertale created by Gaster then I just don't see any other reasonable explanation for all the shared characters in both worlds other then them being copies coloured in with care.
The experiment of Deltarune is to create a being strong enough to shatter the barrier between worlds, a being that can break free from their cage into the world above. if you look into it the game is full of imagery of slashing the screen, shattering glass and breaking barriers.
Gaster wants nothing more then to shatter the barrier and free his people from their cage. To save both worlds there is only one way, The hero's must shatter the cage.

I am in full belief that Deltarunes one ending and final prophecy is to SHATTER THE CAGE and that this is intentional by Gaster to make most runs end with the first hero dying to force you into wanting to find a different result and do whatever it takes to break free from fate.
@Rayaan_Pog somewhat unrelated but I absolutely adore how The Knights screen slash both parallels Chara attacking the screen at the end of geno and Asriel breaking the barrier at the end of pacifist
