THE ROBLOX VNG LOCKOUT: A DOCUMENTED PATTERN

I am Ilya. Belarusian. Roblox user since 2017.

When Roblox blocked chat across CIS countries, I logged into the VNG app once, looking for a workaround. That single login silently converted my account to the VNG (Vietnam) region — no warning, no notice of irreversibility.

Thirty-six hours ago, a Roblox VNG policy update buried the converted accounts: games blocked, chat removed, playtime limits enforced. Mine and countless others. Roblox Customer Support has now confirmed in writing that they will not reverse the conversion.

I began documenting. What I found is larger than my account.

THE WRITTEN POLICY

Two formulations Roblox Customer Support has issued to affected users:

"We are not able to process your request as your Roblox account is subject to terms and conditions in Vietnam. You will need to create a new account on https://t.co/G1fb5YZKkj."

"As per the policy Roblox does not permit location/country changes for users whose accounts are subject to terms and conditions in Vietnam."

Same wording. Different users. Different countries. This is not case-by-case discretion. It is a blanket policy — and Roblox has now put it on the record.

THE SCALE

Over the past 36 hours: 55+ affected users across 17 countries publicly documented. A separate Russian-speaking coalition has independently gathered 158+ additional cases. The affected accounts include:

— Accounts registered as early as 2014 (10+ years of history)
— Users who spent thousands of USD on the platform, one confirmed over $10,000
— ID-verified adult users from Pakistan, Japan, Egypt, Canada, Belgium
— Top-tier Jailbreak players with 9-figure in-game net worth
— Content creators with 80,000+ followers physically trapped in Vietnam by the 180-minute play limit
— Developers who can no longer access games they built

Countries with documented victims: Belarus, USA, UK, Russia, Colombia, South Korea, Vietnam, Jordan, Brazil, Philippines, Japan, Belgium, Canada, Bolivia, Saudi Arabia, France, Egypt. Additional cases pending verification.

HOW USERS ARE CONVERTED

Reported entry paths into the VNG region:

— Single login to the VNG app (no popup, no warning of irreversibility)
— IP auto-detection during travel or study abroad in Vietnam
— Accounts hacked by attackers who accept VNG terms on the victim's behalf — 10+ documented cases
— Accounts converted with no VNG app ever installed and no consent given — 5+ documented cases

The common thread: no informed consent. The common outcome: permanent, irreversible transfer.

WHAT ROBLOX WILL NOT EXPLAIN

1. Roblox Customer Support has privately referenced a "one-time region change" mechanism to at least one user. This option is not disclosed to users before the VNG conversion, is not documented on any public support page, and is not offered to the users demanding it.

2. VNG's own Privacy Policy (Sections 12.1 and 12.2) grants users the right to withdraw consent. In practice, no withdrawal path exists. The stated right and the enforced reality directly contradict.

3. Users report that Roblox has removed region-change information from its own public support pages — currently being verified against Wayback Machine archives. If confirmed, this constitutes evidence of active documentation suppression during an open dispute.

HOW ROBLOX BLOCKS FORMAL CONTACT

— [email protected] auto-rejects incoming email. To file a legal dispute, Roblox's own Terms require certified U.S. Mail, which effectively excludes international customers from access to their own legal process.
— [email protected] and [email protected] forward the same VNG cases back to VNG Support in Vietnam, closing the loop.
— Support tickets — five in my case alone — return identical automated redirects. No human review.

FORMAL RECORD ON FILE

— Better Business Bureau, Complaint #24933277. Closed as "Business Failed to Respond." A public negative mark on Roblox Corporation's BBB profile.
— Federal Trade Commission Consumer Report, filed June 18, 2026. Entered into the Consumer Sentinel database accessible to federal and state law enforcement.
— California Attorney General complaint, filed June 18, 2026, against Roblox Corporation (San Mateo, CA) for potential violations of the California Consumer Privacy Act and Business & Professions Code § 17200.
— Public Trustpilot review documenting the case.

Every one of these was filed after Roblox refused to engage. Their silence is now part of the record.

Roblox Corporation is a publicly traded company (NYSE: RBLX). The pattern documented here has direct implications for consumer protection compliance, international data handling, and material disclosure obligations to shareholders.

WHERE THIS GOES NEXT

Coordinated regulatory filings from affected users across additional jurisdictions — GDPR complaints in EU member states, CCPA-parallel filings in other US states, consumer protection filings in each country represented in the pattern.

Consultation with California-based consumer protection attorneys on class-action viability. Roblox Corporation is headquartered in San Mateo, which places jurisdiction clearly.

Documented case package prepared for investigative press.

Direct escalation to @VNGCorporation as the operational partner in this policy.

THE POSITION

Roblox had every low-cost path to resolve this: a manual region correction, a disclosed opt-out, an honest one-time change mechanism. They chose the path that produces this post instead.

The refusal is not the end of the case. It is the evidence the case required.
