@standaloneSA The original Switch feels pretty dated now in terms of its graphics, and the better screen makes playing while traveling more appealing. Fortnite just looked embarrassing on the Switch compared to PC or PS5. But the biggest thing is probably new Mario Kart.
Two days ago I launched a donation matching challenge to fight against corporate torture of US farm animals. The first $50k has been filled, so I am extending the challenge to $75k to help pay for a second campaigner.
Wondering what the hell I'm on about?
WATCH THIS ๐
3. If new immigrants are making the country a hellhole, won't the 99%+ non-immigrant population swing enough to counteract this?
4. Why should 20,000 voters in a swing state decide the presidential election in a country of 330+ million in the first place? (2/2)
1. 2 million new voters in 4 years is 0.15% of the population per year. 150 years ago immigration rates were over 6x this high. Did democracy end then?
2. Why must all new immigrants vote Democratic? Can Republicans not compete for these votes? (1/2)
Very few Americans realize that, if Trump is NOT elected, this will be the last election. Far from being a threat to democracy, he is the only way to save it!
Let me explain: if even 1 in 20 illegals become citizens per year, something that the Democrats are expediting as fast as humanly possible, that would be about 2 million new legal voters in 4 years.
The voting margin in the swing states is often less than 20 thousand votes. That means if the โDemocraticโ Party succeeds, there will be no more swing states!!
Moreover, the Biden/Harris administration has been flying โasylum seekersโ, who are fast-tracked to citizenship, directly into swing states like Pennsylvania, Ohio, Wisconsin and Arizona. It is a surefire way to win every election.
America then becomes a one-party state and Democracy is over. The only โelectionsโ will be the Democratic Party primaries. This already happened in California many years ago, following the 1986 amnesty.
The only thing holding California back from extreme socialism and suffocating government policies is that people can leave California and still remain in America. Once the whole country is controlled by one party, there will be no escape.
Everywhere in America will be like the nightmare that is downtown San Francisco.
@molly0xFFF@Eramdam I feel like I recall your posts about leaving Substack but don't remember if you've written anyone about the DIY microblog journey. Would love to read it if you have.
@JamesFallows Saw four of them on a truck on I-66 last weekend, and the Tesla showroom in Tysons has one, so won't be long before you're seeing them in DC.
For some reason, this thought popped into my head as I listened to Teleharmonic by The Smile. The idea that "if you can't appreciate this song, you probably won't get me." (3/3)

Back in the day, before social media and the Internet turned into a cesspool, there used to be chat rooms, message boards, mailing lists - communities of people who shared similar interests. Think Reddit but less public. (1/3)
One nice thing about these communities was that it was a pretty effective filter for people you would probably like. Selecting for other nerdy people who liked Radiohead was an excellent sign that I'd get along with someone well. (2/3)
