We can't FORCE new Communities of Practice
CoPs are successful because they last over time through generating excitement, staying relevant, engaging members, attracting new ones.
They are 'alive'
We can't force this but we can cultivate it

Just online published in JAGS: the number needed to vaccinate (NNV) was 3 to prevent 1 SARS-CoV-2 infection in nursing home (NH) residents who received 3 doses of mRNA COVID vaccine in the context of NH COVID-19 outbreaks Jan. - Mar. 2022. The NNV for 1-2 doses was 14.
Big thank you to @PrairieMtHealth for an amazingly efficient experience at the Brandon Super Site vaccination clinic this morning! Booking was easy and I was through the clinic stations without delay. Each and every person I interacted with was warm and welcoming.
I received a DM about outbreak declaration in long-term care homes, and thought this might be interesting to some. Provincial LTC protocols I have read (i.e. all of them) have an approach to sub-/suspect-/non-outbreak COVID episodes that don’t meet outbreak criteria. Let’s go! 1/
"Ten scientific reasons in support of airborne transmission of SARS-CoV-2." New paper in @TheLancet
by @trishgreenhalgh, @kprather88, @Rschooley, @jljcolorado, @dfisman and me! We argue the case that it's not just that SARS-CoV-2 is airborne, but that it's predominantly airborne.
In anticipation, I'd like to make a few points already.
1. A proportion of breakthrough infections are expected. Otherwise, vaccine trials would all have reported 100% efficacy.

Deaths falling fastest among the over-85s and among care home residents over the past 3 weeks than in other groups (including 75-84s) - first signs of vaccination effect? (from National Records of Scotland)
Would you look at that. No active long-term care COVID-19 outbreaks in Vancouver Coastal Health. It has been a long 11 months since we declared the first LTC outbreak, and mourned the first COVID-19 death in Canada. “Reason to celebrate”, yes, and we must keep going. #cdnhealth
