@abigailopare28 I’m happy to see that I wasn’t the only one that enjoyed this experience. It added a fun aspect to the class and not just the typical papers and homework. I never used Twitter prior to this class but it’s definitely apart of my things to do every day now
I have never used twitter prior to this class but I love it. There are so many different forms of information and it’s continuous learning on Twitter. I will continue to use Twitter as a resource of information for different ideas on how to handle some of these worldly issues
SW401 to round out our discussion, in a NEW Tweet, discuss your Twitter experience this semester; how will you use social media in your social work career? Then read/respond to at least 2 of your classmates. This portion of the discussion will conclude on Saturday night.
This is horrifying to read smh. How is money more important than human life? The ultimate goal is to provide a safe, supportive and nurturing environment for these kids. This is how we maximize on the quality of life. We should be assuring that these babies are given love
This breaks my heart. But it further confirms the need to implement The Fostering Connections Act of 2008. These kids need connections to grow. They need connections to know who they are. Connections can provide clarity on which way to go for some and gives a sense of belonging
Lizzy recently turned 15. She's been in and out of foster care since the 3rd grade. During an emotional moment, she opened up about the pain she carries with her. She prays to be adopted soon 💜! https://t.co/lXG2UGg2w8
@2022_brenda@abigailopare28 I’m still in shock that we live in a world that doesn’t value the same things I did growing up. We always took care of children!! Why are so many falling at the waist side?! Where are all the ppl that went to school to help? Oh that’s right, we are overusing the ppl here to help!
@DailySocialWork Absolutely!!! People are fighting so many unspoken battles in their careers and personal lives. So imagine dealing with your own stuff on top of making appropriate decisions for someone else’s life? It has to be very taxing and overwhelming.
@TaylorKrauseSW Right. How do we live in the land of the free but we aren’t free to receive the services that help us maximize on the quality of life? We have to worry about how to pay for help which drives us into a deeper worrying state of mind.
@TaylorKrauseSW I love this!!!! I started off my journey working with individuals with disabilities and it changed my life. The type of compassion I have for that population is unreal. In my current program, the youth can go to school up until 21 years of age which is great.
@abigailopare28 This is big!!! I probably should of did some research in each topic when we were given the option to pick a topic because this would have been my next choice. I hope we can one day under stand how closely linked mental health and addiction is
@2022_brenda Right. It’s so sad how many children won’t have the opportunity to know love and support throughout their lives. I pray that the world sees the need to do better with raising the earths children
Fostering Connections to Success and Increasing Adoptions Act was passed in 2008 with the primary goal to provide funding to adopted children. The act would increase adoption rates as not being able to afford to care for the children was most challenging.
I’m learning this after breaking out into hives and not knowing where it can from. Just to be told that it’s called a stress rash 🙄. We have to take care of ourselves and recognize when we need a break
Everyone experiences stress. Sometimes it can help you focus and get the task at hand done. But when stress is frequent and intense, it can strain your body and make it impossible to function. Finding effective ways to deal is crucial to living well. #southcarolina
Well said!!! Especially since the pandemic started with kids actually complaining that they aren’t being challenged enough and that the teachers aren’t as bought in as they were post pandemic.
Lately I hear #teachers talk about kids not doing all their work. Don’t focus on how much work they do. Instead, focus on quality of that work. Does the kid get the concept? If so move on. I’ve seen some kids do lots of work & learn nothing from it. #thatonekid#edchat
April is #ChildAbusePreventionMonth. Just like plants need soil to grow, positive childhood experiences help build the groundwork for kids to grow into healthy adults! We can all work together to help prevent child abuse & neglect. #HealthyConnections

Wow!! A family of three with an annual income above $32,580 would not qualify for assistance in 13 states. The amount that providers can receive doesn’t cover the true cost of child care. So how will family’s be able to survive if they can’t access what they need?
@CandenceAppling The childcare system is broken and is breaking families financially, with the lack of funding only 1 in 7 families are actually able to get the support but are only allowed to make $35,258 annually.

@TaylorKrauseSW Absolutely!!! So many ppl regret how they handled situations when they were upset. You have to give yourself a chance to process sometimes
It’s sad that the only way to control a kid from joining social network, is to completely take away all technology. It’s so sickening that people use apps to lure children but with us knowing that, when will we say that anything that doesn’t protect our babies, we don’t support
