However, the women’s attire appears to reflect Myanmar’s Yadanarbon Era, which came much later than the Lanna period, when Myanmar was in the Taungoo Era. These two eras had distinctly different clothing styles.

Fantasy should not be an excuse to misrepresent another culture’s heritage. We respectfully request GMMTV to clarify the inspiration behind these costumes and properly acknowledge Myanmar’s cultural origins if applicable.

To those asking, “Why didn’t you speak up before the series came out? Why only now?” Let me explain.

While the series was being filmed, the SH Thailand team put up a notice like the one in the picture below at their filming location. It clearly stated that anyone who posted photos from the set on ANY social media account would be fined.

Think about that for a second. Behind-the-scenes photos are literally one of the things that help build hype for a series before its release. Instead of encouraging people to share BTS content, they deliberately restricted it with that notice.

So how the hell were people from our country supposed to know what costumes they were using? We didn’t even get to see the outfits in the first place. What exactly were we supposed to call out when we had no idea what was going on?

It was only when they released the trailer that we finally discovered they had used our traditional Burmese clothing. And now you’re asking why we didn’t speak up earlier? Seriously?

Do you honestly think GMMTV is going to remove those costumes now? The entire series has already been filmed. They’ll probably just pull the usual excuse of “production has already been completed, so changes are no longer possible” and act like that settles everything.

And let’s not forget that this series features some of the company’s biggest artists. Their fans are obviously going to watch it. Most of those fans will probably assume the costumes are traditional Thai clothing. How many people are actually going to go out of their way to research which country those outfits originally belong to?

THAT’S EXACTLY WHY WE WANT OUR COUNTRY TO BE CREDITED. Our traditional clothing should not be presented without proper acknowledgment of its origins. We deserve recognition for our own cultural heritage. That’s the bare minimum.

And to those people saying, “Thailand was once under Burmese rule, so of course their traditional clothing looks similar” — GET YOUR HISTORY STRAIGHT FIRST.

The costumes they’re wearing belong to a period that came AFTER Thailand had already gained independence from Burmese rule. So stop using that argument to dismiss our concerns. It doesn’t even make sense in this context @GMMTV
