@michaelpresky@ProfessorPape Oil isn’t the only critical resource that passes through the straight. 30% of the world’s helium supply does. Helium is critical to semiconductor manufacturing, and it can’t be stockpiled because it leaks out of containers and escapes into the atmosphere.
@hornsbykid@michaelpresky@ProfessorPape Our refineries are not appropriate for the light, sweet crude oil produced here, which is why we export it and import oil from other countries.
@propublica While @JDVance leads a committee to reduce fraud his boss is giving pardons to his criminal buddies convicted of fraud. It's all a show folks.
Trump's new plan to create foreign revenue sources for the president, and spend that revenue in ways that bypass Congress, is exactly what was at issue in the Iran-Contra scandal of 1986.
Hope isn’t a feeling. It’s a strategy.
Hope is the awareness that there is still something you have not discovered yet. An answer, a tool, a supplement, or a missing piece that can help move your body back in the right direction.
Without hope, people get stuck. They start believing that no doctor can help them. That their immune system will never improve. That decline is just part of aging and nothing will change.
The truth is this. Without hope, you stop searching. You stop looking for solutions. And when the search stops, healing stops. We never give up. I never give up on my daughter, my other children, or my wife. And we never give up on our patients.
Healing is a journey, and no one should walk it alone. Without hope and without faith, it becomes very difficult to move the body back toward healing, especially when everyone else says it is impossible.
If you want results that feel miraculous, you have to be willing to do what others are not doing. Hope is part of that process.
Whew. I have never seen a more brutal takedown of Trump’s cabinet than Pete Buttigieg here. No academic, high-brow rhetoric. Just simple, vivid language that everyone can understand & get behind. A masterclass from Pete. Watch this.

If our Christianity causes kids to go hungry, the sick to go without healthcare, the stranger to be unwelcome, the needy to be called “parasites,” all while billionaires get richer, we’ve profoundly misunderstood the most basic elements of Jesus’ teachings.
Sick and tired of Republican Senators coming to me privately saying, “Mark, keep speaking up, you’re our conscience.”
I don’t want to be their damn conscience.
I want them to vote their conscience.
The resignation of President Jim Ryan is a loss for the University of Virginia and the Commonwealth. That the president of a top-ranked, thriving public university would be pressured to resign by the Department of Justice — in order to avoid further harm and harassment from the Trump Administration — is a clear infringement upon academic freedom and should concern every Virginian and American.
As an alumna of the University of Virginia, I am deeply saddened to see our Governor, his Administration, and so many members of the Board of Visitors remain silent in the face of these attacks on the integrity and independence of the University of Virginia.
As Governor, I will take decisive steps to ensure that all of our Commonwealth’s Boards of Visitors are composed of individuals committed to the mission of serving and strengthening our public colleges and universities. I will work to restore a standard of leadership that puts academic excellence, Virginia’s students, and the strength of Virginia’s public colleges and universities ahead of any political agenda.
The President having the Department of Justice demand the head of a state university resign or else, over diversity programs…that is textbook fascist behavior. I don’t use that term loosely (or ever, I don’t think). But that’s what this is.

UnitedHealthcare has dropped Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center from its network, leaving 20,000 cancer patients (including me) without access to our doctors and life-saving treatment starting July 1.
Cancer patients cannot simply “go elsewhere.” Finding new specialists takes time many of us don’t have. This reckless decision will overload other hospitals, delay care, and endanger lives.
What kind of company knowingly disrupts cancer treatment for thousands of people? Shame on you, @UHC.
