There is question whether the Canucks are investing enough money to hire good people and pay to operate the team at a cup contender.

@Tom_In_One @NYRChip23 I think Debrusk's value is highly overstated right now. It is telling that he didn't get traded at draft. He and club are both motivated to move him.
But given his age, term on his contract, I think teams are saying the Canucks have to eat some money. Canucks don't have leverage.

@nhltraderumours It is feeling less and less like Debrusk will be traded. I had assumed he would be traded at the draft.
The term on his contract, his age, NMC and his healthy scratch likely gives all leverage to the buyer.
I suspect other teams are demanding Canucks eat part of the salary.

@AllLoveCoco I apologize if it's obvious, but this is a good way for the team to maximize their ticket sales. They need to attract the single game fans, since you are already locked in.
This is one of the impacts of a "rebuild" when the money is very tight.

Maybe this is something that benefits the Canucks monopoly...I hadn't thought of it that way.

I don't anticipate Canucks revenue to grow to keep up with salary cap. It could become the new normal if Canucks can generate similar revenue as a mushy middle team with less expenditure.

@sekeresandprice @justBlakePrice @patersonjeff @risingaction @bet365ca Rebuilding needs a lot of extra funding. The Canucks operating well under normal operating budgets is a massive constraint to the Sedin's and Ryan Johnson.
No, it won't be obvious with bad trades. But it will manifest itself with a rebuild that ultimately doesn't succeed.

@David_M_Giles @habs_burner I think the point being made was based on their resume., since it's all we have. @habs_burner has a legitimate point, as both RJ and Sedin's don't have any experience and their experience comes from a poorly managed team.

@David_M_Giles @habs_burner It is hard to evaluate at this point. It is also hard to evaluate their work because they don't have a reasonable budget to be successful. Ultimately the rebuild can't be done on their hsoe string budget. It's not all on Sedin's or RJ
