Our initiative now has a name: Prop 36.
Already the @cagovernor is taking shots at supporters of the new initiative:
“I disagree with them on this issue," California Governor @GavinNewsom said at a press conference on Thursday. "Vehemently disagree on this issue and I hope that folks take a look at this initiative.”
All right, then. Let’s take a close look.
When Prop 36 gets approved by the voters in November, it will be a game changer. We will finally be able to prosecute smash and grab thefts. Holding offenders accountable for the safety of our communities.
When it comes to fentanyl, this deadly poison will finally be added to the list of hard drugs, which allows greater consequences for selling it. For people who have multiple convictions for possession of hard drugs, we would be able to mandate drug treatment, which they desperately need.
These three parts of prop 36 will significantly reduce homelessness.
In 2014, we the voters passed prop 47 which we were told would give us safe neighborhoods and safe schools. It did the opposite by allowing for theft and drug addiction to run rampant and increasing crime across our state.
Please join me in voting FOR Prop 36 in November to fix the broken, unintended consequences of Prop 47.

🚨Exciting News: Our Measure is Officially Proposition 36! 🚨
Prop 36 is the commonsense public safety reform we need to address retail theft, the fentanyl epidemic, and homelessness. With your support, we can bring these crucial solutions to California.
Let’s make a real difference. The time is now!

@rascal113646@SenatorUmberg@MayorToddGloria As Alexandra's father and a proponent of closing our borders I can tell you it won't stop the influx of fentanyl coming into this country. It starts with stopping it on our home front. Education and accountability is a must.
@rascal113646@ZavalaA@SenatorUmberg That’s a matter of electing good sheriffs and district attorneys. Currently, there are no laws that hold fentanyl dealers accountable for causing death. This is long overdue.
@GregAngelo3@ZavalaA@kcranews@SenatorUmberg It basically fixes a loophole in current law, which requires prosecutors to prove that fentanyl dealers know that the drug can result in death
@AGRobBonta Mr. Bonta, when will you support Alexandra’s Law so we can help put a stop to the senseless fentanyl murders that California leads the way in?
@BrianMannADK@shellenberger Thank you. I will send a notice to the email address you provided. Since you are now aware of this issue I am asking you to please remove my picture and any association with myself or my daughter to the related article.
@shellenberger This is absurd! Im disgusted my picture and daughter are associated with this article. I emailed the author demanding a retraction. My daughter didnt die from an overdose. She was poisoned and there is a man in federal prison for his crime

@allyzay@shellenberger I’m not being dismissive of those who are taking fentanyl knowingly. They have been poisoned by this drug too. No one in their right mind would seek it. Those who deal fentanyl need to be held accountable.
