Excellent question: why is Musk burning so many bridges with one political party when his companies so often work with the government (or rely on government subsidies).

I have two theories, not entirely mutually exclusive:

1. Musk is no longer playing the long game, because he has become too impulsive to do so.

2. Musk knows that his businesses have done things that are deeply problematic, and feels that he can only succeed if those investigations don’t proceed.
