Director Gene Stoel is joining @MNSoyGrowers Exec. Dir. Joe Smentek & ag leaders on a trade mission to Morocco. In 2022, MN exported $13.5M in ag products to Morocco. Gene & Joe are working with @MNagriculture to increase soy exports to Morocco via the Port of Duluth-Superior.

I love the smell of Hexane in the morning, well afternoon. Visited Bunge’s Amsterdam Soy crush facility and heard how the plant managers prefer crushing US Soy thanks to its higher quality and lower processing needs. @USSEC #ussoy

Day three in the Netherlands kicked off with a very informative meeting with Koppert. They are creating biologicals that can kill aphids and other soy pests with the power of nature. Very cool to see fungi killing aphids.

Day two continued with visits to Royal Steensma’s food innovation academy and Zandbergen Quality meats, supplier of beyond meat in Europe. Finishing up at our reception with Ambassador Duggal.

Day two of the USDA Netherlands trade mission kicked off early at the flower auction at Royal Flora Holland. Very interesting to learn how much logistics go into moving flowers from farm to market.

Secretary & Cannon Falls farmer @bradhovel testified this afternoon in front of the House Ag Committee in support of Rep. Paul Anderson's bill to provide a study group that would look at recommendations to assist farmers whose crops have been damaged by deer.

Director Chris Hill, who also sits on the ⁦@CleanFuelsAA board, is attending the Biodiesel Task Force meeting in St. Paul w/ industry leaders. The task force is receiving biodiesel plant & regulatory agency updates, & discussing opportunities to increase MN’s biodiesel use.
