The US needs to require teaching gun safety to First graders. Second grade: gun cleaning and maintenance. By Fifth grade: every child should have fired a pistol and a rifle. The parents and the child can still notify the school they object to guns, but the knowledge should be required. Every US Citizen (even legal immigrants) should know how to pick up a gun, check it, clear it and fire it if the need arises.
