How fast is Captain Marvel Junior?
So fast, that he’s able to rescue Prof. Van Dingle from the ocean without drowning by using his super-speed. With super-speed, travel from the bottom of the earth’s oceans to ground-level takes only 10 seconds.

TW: suicide mention
Captain Marvel Jr comics have always dealt with dark/mature themes.
In Captain Marvel Jr #1, Miss Blake commits suicide after being discovered as The Walking Shadow. Junior is helpless to stop her. The story raises some uncomfortable questions…
…about the internal conflict that comes with being a superhero. I.e., If Junior hadn’t done his duty, then Miss Blake would still be alive. So did Junior commit a moral wrong? It’s possible to reinterpret this scene using a post-modern moral framework, although ultimately…
Austin’s delivery of this line was flawless. When telling Parker about his favorite superhero, he purposefully made his face neutral. It was the look of someone who was trying really hard to seem normal about something they cared about, because they were used to being bullied…
This scene was meant to represent a moment of #vulnerability for Elvis. Captain Marvel Jr is a part of his inner world, and he’s letting Parker in on it. And Parker uses that against him. The Rock of Eternity is a heroic backdrop in Captain Marvel Jr’s world.
But in Elvis’s world, it’s a place (Las Vegas) where he is enslaved. Parker has been studying Elvis, and his family’s internal mythology. He uses childish, comic book concepts to appeal to Elvis (I believe this is meant to show just how innocent Elvis is).
He then manipulates Gladys into signing an exclusive contract, by appealing to the Jesse myth (that Elvis has “the strength of two men”). Parker is an astute observer, a snake…a master of manipulation. He takes advantage of a trusting family.
When he's written properly,
the fact that he has physical challenges in his non-powered form. Freddy truly lives in multiple worlds, as the #Marvel family does, but he's unique in that way.
What would such an existence do to you psychologically?
