IMO, players and parents often spend too much time worrying about college programs’ win-loss records and recent success (or lack thereof).

Go look at most college baseball conferences around the country. The standings can flip 180 degrees in just one season. A top 3 team in a conference can become a bottom 3 team in that same conference very quickly. And vice versa.

If you try to judge whether a program is a good fit for you strictly based on how many games they won last season, you are doing yourself a disservice.

Most mid-major programs are 1-2 impact arms or impact bats away from being very good, and 1-2 injuries away from having a season de-railed.

There are obviously some programs that have separated from the pack with consistent winning track records, roster depth, facilities, development, draft success, etc.

But outside of those outlier programs, the gap is probably smaller than you think.
