Vaccines have saved more than 150 million lives since 1974 — not by accident, but because ordinary people made the decision to protect themselves, their children and one another.
That’s 6 lives every minute, every day, for more than 5 decades. #VaccinesWork

WHO Collaborating Centres around the world work #TogetherForHealth to #StandWithScience.
From calibrating quality malaria rapid diagnostic tests to ensuring safe blood supply for patients, WHO CCs exemplify how collaboration and partnerships can advance evidence-based approaches that enable better health outcomes for all.
This week, over 800 collaborating centres from more than 80 countries gathered together at the first-ever Global Forum of Collaborating Centres, hosted by the government of France.
We spoke with WHO CCs in the Western Pacific to get a look at what they do. There are over 190 of them in the Western Pacific with 85 participants attending from 57 regional partners.
Collaborating centres provide strategic, scientific and technical support to WHO’s programmes at global, regional and country levels.
Through these partnerships, WHO strengthens multilateral collaboration, advances evidence-informed health policies, and promotes coordinated action across countries and regions to address global health priorities.

Social media has become a failed state.
If we want to protect our children there is only one thing we can do: take back control.

Have you heard about Lenacapavir or LEN, a new drug WHO recommends to protect people at risk of #HIV?
For some people, taking daily pills is not easy.
But Lenacapavir could change everything because instead of taking daily pills, people can now get injections every six months.
At the time where funding for HIV is limited, this new drug could mean fewer new infections and more lives saved.

Together with the President of the Security Council, Ambassador Michael Imran Kanu of Sierra Leone, I signed the Joint Letter to initiate the process to select and appoint the next United Nations Secretary-General.
The selection process comes at a pivotal moment for the UN.
Our choice will send a powerful message about who we are, and whether we truly serve all the peoples of the world, of which half are women and girls.
As President of the General Assembly, I will ensure that the selection and appointment process is guided by GA resolutions as well as by the principles of transparency and inclusivity.
