I can’t wait to watch Nolan’s Odyssey…
…for free on my next airplane trip where all self proclaimed, “amazing,” multi million dollar box office movies end up within 3-6 months.
It’s the only time I purposely watch movies I know will be bad or would never pay for.
Profound sub point here:
The Church’s body today is kind of hideous…we lost the beauty of the ancient liturgy, customs, traditions, etc. Not making an excuse for it, but it is just the state of things.
Yet Christ calls us to love Her regardless. Do the best we can right now.
I found this bit today between @RealMattFradd and Peter Kreeft profoundly moving (Kreeft’s wife of 60+ years recently died).
It’s no wonder marriage is a type of Christ and His Church. If we love His Catholic Church only if Her body is beautiful, we are not truly loving Her.
@GODROX_cs@NickTCavazos So I believe in the Holy Spirit, have the virtue of hope, and know that the Church will never order me to commit sin. That goes against Christ’s own promise.
@Daviers9@vrody_jerome_ It refutes you entirely. Christ gave us Peter and built the Church upon him and his authority till Christ returns. You are not the Church unless you are in communion with Peter. Countless saints have reiterated this over the centuries…
@Daviers9@vrody_jerome_ I understand there is a modernist crisis and agree, but the burden of proof is on you to say the reform should not take place from within the Church.
@vrody_jerome_ They all teach and are formed in traditional sound doctrine. I went to a seminary that wasn’t even Ecclesia Dei, where our only textbook was the Summa.
I think Lefevebrists have more blinders on than they want to admit.
Often, the harder path is the cross we have to take.
@ClassicalTheis@timotheeology Somewhat separate, but the church’s **current** comments on the death penalty and slavery (acting as if both are intrinsically evil all of a sudden) still cause me grave concern.
@vrody_jerome_ There is not a state of necessity when these communities and diocesan TLMs exist. Let’s also not forget that the bishops of the next 50 years will be very different than the bishops of the last 50.
@vrody_jerome_ This post makes complete sense only if Ecclesia Dei communities were suppressed. You talk as if the SSPX are the sole guardians of our patrimony…when others have been very successful (albeit Francis I restrictions) in preserving our tradition from with the Church.
@muntz21013@NickTCavazos If God has permitted us to have bad kings, that means it is what we deserve…and we should pray and fast for better shepherds.
Also “as we forgive those who trespass against us.” …to pray for and forgive these men if they are wrong is of a paramount importance.
@muntz21013@NickTCavazos That’s not what I’m saying…by all means continue to call out the sin.
The point is the decree is valid whether or not you like it.
If you joined the Church for the people, you will continue to be disappointed and angry. I do what I can to reform the Church from within.
