Today, we commenced training of 10 community volunteers from Easleigh area in preparation 4 The Hooyo Haigoynin project that will focus in engaging communities in Easleigh on #EndFGM. This project was officially opened by Joycelyn Mwangi of @AFGMBoard#MunDontCutMe@Zinduka_eV
In partnership with @Zinduka_eV and Nala, we are training ToTs to equip them with knowledge about female genital mutilation to facilitate and raise awareness of the harmful effects of #FGM among #Eastleigh area residents.
#MenEndFGM | #MumDoNotCutMe | #endFGM
Equipping girls and women with knowledge about their human rights boosts their confidence and empowers them to speak up and voice their health concerns in their communities, ultimately changing deeply entrenched traditional norms.
The best way to make a girl to abstain from pre-marital sex is not by cutting her genital, but by educating and mentoring her.
Welcoming #TubongeNaComrades in @GarissaUni let's attend all, date will be announced soon. See you there. @MenEndFGM@TonyMwebia
To put an end to harmful cultural practices, raising awareness among elders, men and boys is key to ensuring they are aware of the dangers of FGM and child marriage, the value of girls' education, and making informed decisions as heads of families.

FGM is perpetuated for a variety of reasons, one of which is the need to control female sexuality. Challenging this biased attitude is key to ending FGM & realising SRHR for all women/girls. We work with Pokot/Samburu communities to accelerate the abandonment of harmful practices
Orchid Fellow @Bethel_Tadesse from @hiddenscars_org shows her remarkable film for the first live showing. The film follows a Kenyan cutter and a girl (now a young woman) she cut ). #endfgm#endfgc#endfgmc
Today after the showing of two films about cutters by @KamSarian & @Bethel_Tadesse we were lucky enough to hear from @TonyMwebia who spoke about how he set up @MenEndFGM and things he has learnt from discussions with men which could be applied to #endfgm in other countries.
Gender norms perpetuate most harmful beliefs learned at an early age. Engaging cmty./traditional leaders is key to collectively transforming harmful norms that perpetuate FGM & other gender-biased practices. We sensitize/engage men to #EndFGM & advocate for gender-equitable norms
Addressing social norms that condone violence is vital .PCF continues to engage community members on conversations on elimination of FGM and promote child education.
