Here we go! Announcing our next satellite: Fledgling Veery-0G "Brendan".
Integrated via @exolaunch, Brendan will launch on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket as part of the Transporter-15 mission.
We just completed initial checkout of Fledgling Veery v0.5! The satellite is looking good and we're proceeding with additional commissioning steps, including GPS tracking, some software patches, and first light from the radar!
Today’s the day! Our newest satellite, Fledgling Veery v0.5 (0G) "Brendan", is launching today on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket as part of their Transporter-15 mission!
Brendan brings us one step closer to a future with prophetically-accurate weather forecasts and disaster warnings.
Falcon 9 is vertical at pad 4E in California ahead of today’s launch of the Transporter-15 rideshare mission. The 57-minute launch window opens at 10:19 a.m. PT → https://t.co/bvmAjXtV1E
Brendan fixes problems our last Fledgling Veery encountered with a host of new satellite guidance, radio, and software systems, including better sensors, despin magnetorquers (electromagnets), improved control logic, and a comms-over-radar channel.
Bright skies ahead! ✨ Our team successfully completed the integration of 🇺🇸 @careweather’s Veery-0G (v0.5) "Brendan" with @SpaceX Falcon 9 ahead of #Transporter15 🚀
This satellite will improve hurricane forecasts & demo new guidance, communications, and software systems!
We're making progress on satellite attitude determination and control @CareWeather with simulation results nearly reproduced on hardware.
Next, we need to stop the motors from corrupting the magnetometer readings and balance the satellite on the air bearing.

The satellite will also demo new precision guidance sensors, electromagnets for rotation, high-speed downlink, and fixes to the wheels and Earth-pointing software.
2/2 - We briefly activated the pointing control system and it works!
Future tests will run the radar while the control system points it at the Earth. If successful, that will give us our first data from the smallest radar satellite in history.
2 updates!
1/2 - We activated the GPS and started getting orbit determination data. We can use that to pick Barb out from the cluster of satellites around it.
And yes, @airtable is the new Houston.
We're thrilled to announce that Veery v0.4 "Barb", our fourth test and first weather satellite, is launching today!
Barb will test:
- a more sensitive radar capable of measuring ocean surface wind speed
- end-to-end control software from @elodinsystems
- improved Iridium SBD software
- partially-automated commissioning
- and much more
SpaceX livestream starts at 10:36pm!
Presenting Veery 0.3 "Ectobius", the smallest satellite radar ever! Launching on @SpaceX Transporter-10 any day now! 🚀
Veery 0.3 was built by a team of two for 1% of the cost of the next smallest satellite radar (NASA RainCube).

@Web3IsWild cost for a 1U right now is generally in the range of $40k-$80k, but you have to go with an integrator who deploys your satellite with other satellites, spacex won't do something that small
We're thrilled to announce that Veery v0.4 "Barb", our fourth test and first weather satellite, is launching today!
