Dear Sir

I am writing to bring urgent attention to the state of waste management in the Baghwan pora Noor bagh near ismi Azam high school area. The attached images (with GPS coordinates) show large amounts of garbage piled near the chinar trees and along the roadside. Previously, dustbins were provided, but after assurances of home collection, neither dustbins nor regular service is in place.

This is not just an eyesore; it poses serious health risks. Just 5 meters ahead, there is a school, and this negligence could affect the health of children and residents. While I understand some littering comes from the public, the absence of a proper system is making the problem worse.

I urge you to either reinstate dustbins or ensure the promised home collection. Additionally, I request immediate clearance of the garbage near the chinar trees and roadside. Please act swiftly to protect our environment and public health.

The encroachment of roads at Hari Singh High Street and Maharaja Bazaar continues unabated despite the verbal directions of Honourable Lieutenant Governor to the administration as well as police.@OfficeOfLGJandK

Despite repeated request to the administration and law enforcement agencies, the issue of road encroachments at Hari Singh High Street and Maharaja Bazaar continues to persist unabated.

Although enforcement actions are occasionally carried out by the concerned authorities, the relief is only temporary. Illegal hawkers return within a short span of time, nullifying previous efforts and allowing the situation to revert to its congested and disorderly state.

This ongoing encroachment has led to severe disruption of public movement. Shoppers and commuters are compelled to navigate through heavily congested and unsafe conditions, resulting in daily inconvenience, delays.

It is of grave concern that Maharaja Bazaar Road serves as the sole access route to the only maternity hospital in the Kashmir Valley. Any obstruction on this vital road poses a direct threat to emergency medical access and, consequently, to human lives.
In view of the above, we humbly request your kind intervention and earnestly urge you to issue strict and binding directions to the Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, and the Senior Superintendent of Police, Srinagar, to implement a coordinated, firm, and lasting solution. This should include continuous monitoring and enforcement to ensure that once cleared, these public roads remain permanently free from illegal occupation.

The Market Committee of Maharaja Bazaar and Hari Singh High Street sincerely hopes that this pressing issue will receive your immediate attention and decisive action.

⚠️ Public Concern – Gas Agency Closed Without Notice

Residents of Nawakadal / Nawab Bazar, Srinagar are facing severe hardship as a gas agency office has been closed for 10 days without any clear date, official order, or permission from the administration.

The notice simply states “Closed for 4 days”, but it has now been 10 days, with:
• No reopening date
• No official permission from the administration
• Society is suffering, as many—including myself—registered online for home delivery, but no service is being provided. Meanwhile, gas is being sold in the black market at inflated prices.

We urge DC Srinagar and the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir to take strict action against this agency. We need a full investigation:
❓ Who gave them permission to close?
❓ Is there any official order?
❓ Why is gas being sold at such high prices in the black market?

Essential services like LPG cannot be disrupted without clear authorization.

I want to apply for a GI Tag for my shawls, but the current appointment system at the Handicrafts office is extremely unfair for Artisans and exporters.

Earlier we could call and get an appointment. Now we are told to visit the office on the first day of the month just to find out whether the appointment will be after two or three months. This uncertainty and delay is nothing short of harassment.

In today’s digital era, why can’t appointments be 100% online? A transparent online system showing who has an appointment and when would ensure fairness for everyone.

Artisans and exporters should not have to beg for their rights.

I sincerely hope the present Director of Handicrafts will introduce a fully online appointment system soon. If not today, then when?

The Patwari posted in tehsil Eidgah Srinagar, village Baghwanpora, has remained in the same area for the past 4 years and is simultaneously handling more than 5 halkas under additional charge. This excessive concentration of workload and prolonged posting has led to serious delays in revenue services and growing public inconvenience.

Immediate administrative intervention is required to deploy a dedicated Patwari for Baghwanpora and ensure proper transfer/rotation as per norms. The public cannot continue to suffer due to staff shortage and overburdened field administration.

We also acknowledge the efforts of Iqbal Nabi, Tehsildar Eidgah, who continues to work diligently despite severe manpower constraints.

Prompt action is expected in the interest of efficient and accountable public service.
