Inside story of the Paris 2024 boxing scandal: How the IOC put women in unnecessary danger, distorting biological truth in a lethal sport https://t.co/3WFVYasD81
This has been an important Olympics, for intellectually discriminating sports fans. It has been divisive - between the spined and the spineless, the serious and the clowns, the honest people and the charlatans.
I'm pleased about that.
Well said, Matthew Pinsent.
Don’t you see? Don’t you see what this insanity is doing to women?? WHY DO GIRLS HAVE TO SHARE THEIR BATHROOMS W/BOYS? THEIR LOCKER ROOMS? THEIR SPORTS? THEIR PRISONS? WHY DO 4th GRADE BOYS HAVE TO SHARE THEIRS W/GIRLS (& THEIR TAMPONS) IN MN? NONE OF THIS IS NORMAL, SAFE OR FAIR
4 punches to the back of the head (by a male nonetheless)??? And not a SINGLE point deducted???
If there were one video to portray the negligence and the cowardice of the IOC, this is it.
Why does this MP hate female athletes so much they’d write this? There is/was a serious risk of life changing injury putting a male in a boxing ring with females. This statement is just staggeringly ignorant!
People kept asking me in person to explain the debate over the Olympic boxers, so I figured it was more efficient to write it down for @TheAtlantic

I understand the need for empathy when it comes to transgender athletes. I understand that Iman Khalid is DSD and obviously this must be very challenging in ways we can’t imagine. That said, where is the empathy for women with XX chromosomes who train their entire life only to be potentially met with an unfair playing field and in extreme cases, safety concerns.
It’s entirely unacceptable that the rights and opinions of ALL stakeholders, explicitly including xx female athletes are not being considered. The punishment and reprisal of these women for voicing their feelings on the matter is bordering on fascistic. Their concerns should be closely considered as an entire generation of upcoming girls may never get the opportunity to fulfill their dreams no matter how hard they work. The scholarships, titles, world records, prize money, Olympic opportunities, endorsement deals could all eventually become out of reach. This looks like a world without Serena Williams, Lindsay Vonn, Simone Biles, Ronda Rousey and many more.
Only when we agree that these issues must be addressed can we truly work toward solutions for inclusion, safety, and fairness. Each governing body for all sports needs to grow a spine, look at the data, and seek out solutions. Stop gaslighting the world by claiming there is no cause for concern. Only a flat earther would actually believes this! People just fear retribution should they point out a naked emperor.
@PennyRed Because we have a classification system that 'controls out' male advantage in women's sport. The existence of women's sport depends on excluding those advantages that are caused by being male. If you are opposed to this, that entails being opposed to women's sport.
@PennyRed Because if we recognize ONLY natural advantage, then the biggest one is being male. And so in sport, it would mean that "being male" (or having male advantage) would become a talent. And being female a disadvantage. Female sport exists to exclude that "talent", to create fairness
