This #BlackHistoryMonth, we’re proud to share an inspiring blog from Chris Murray, CEO of the @YPFtrust.
Reflecting on this year’s theme - Standing Firm in Power and Pride - Chris shares his journey as a Black leader of Jamaican heritage and describes the resilience, ambition and unwavering commitment to equity that have defined his 30+ year career in youth services.
From sports coaching in Tottenham, leading the Youth Review for @RBKC after the Grenfell Tower fire and creating new Youth Services for the area’s young people, to shaping national youth policy and lecturing in leadership and systemic change @imperialcollege.
Chris’ blog delves into what it means to him to be a leader and the potential youth work unlocks in young people.

Always stimulating conversations @TrowsdaleGary! Great to hear @jonpayates@YouthEndowFund speak on an evidence led approach to reducing youth violence, and thank you to @NIESRorg for such a warm welcome, thanks for the invitation!
“There is a discipline to being dyslexic. You're very aware of what you should never do and quickly get into things where you have an advantage... I'm attenuated to the taxonomy, so the taxonomy doesn't become me. And that is crazy valuable when you're trying to do something unique... It's the thing paying all the bills.”

Sad news indeed! Our network meetings enabled us to connect with youth orgs in the South West Region. They’ve made a legendary contribution to supporting youth orgs to measure impact as well as youth work training that started the journey of many a youth worker.

There simply are not enough youth workers in England to meet young people's needs. NYA is proposing important changes to our qualification framework, and we want to hear what you think of our proposals. In many ways, these proposals are the biggest shakeup of youth work training and skills in decades, so please take a look and get involved.
This is your last chance to register for this afternoon's webinar with Ofcom explaining the new Online Harms Bill and how it may impact on digital youth work process and procedures.

The extraordinary 270 Climbing Park at Bentham hosted a one-day event today as a follow-up from the summer camp for the NCS (National Citizen Service) Trust. These students from Pittville School were among 14 who scaled the heights. No, I wasn't invited to have a go. #NCS
We were delighted to join our fellow Back Youth Alliance (BYA) organisations at a drop-in event for parliamentarians today in the Houses of Parliament to champion supporting young people through youth work and the importance of youth voice.
Thank you to @NCSTrust for organising the event and to all the parliamentarians who came along. It’s great to see so much passion in the room for the BYA’s call to #BackYouth and we look forward to working together to open doors to opportunities through the power of youth work.
