@pvbsc1 It was reminder of the 5 April deadline extension for anyone who has previously paid national insurance in the UK and the opportunity for them to pay for any missing years from 2006 onwards.
@ANDYDB7@StatesAssembly@JsyDairy The short answer is no. All we can do is to keep encouraging everyone to keep shopping around to save themselves money

When does a child become an adult in Jersey?
There is a complete lack of consistency as some of our Island’s attractions start charging adult prices from 12 years old!
Here’s a quick rundown of from what age you can expect to pay full price…
Everything is set for tonight’s @JEPnews #PrideofJerseyAwards in Trinity, which I’m honoured to be co-hosting with Jersey-born soprano Georgi Mottram. Just finished rehearsals and a script run-through and it’s going to be an emotional one!
@TheOnlyGuru Ahh. Some places - including some Amazon sellers - charge GST but call VAT as ghetto systems haven’t been updated. However, you certainly shouldn’t have then had the item stopped and taxed again at Customs. A call to them will sort it, I’m sure.
@DominicCJones More education across the board is definitely needed, and something we have fed back to Scrutiny - especially for those who have not embraced modern technology, do not have access to it or who have been left behind by the acceleration towards it as a result of Covid.
Do you think businesses in Jersey should accept both cash and digital payments?
We want to hear from YOU! Whether you're an individual, business owner, or part of an organisation, your opinion matters. Take just 5 minutes to fill out this anonymous survey and make your voice heard!
Take the survey now: https://t.co/Zj3cPbiO40
Deadline: Wednesday 31 July
Paper copies of the survey are available to collect from Parish Halls and Morier House reception.
The Panel will also be holding pop-ups at St Brelade Precinct on Tuesday 23 July between 12-2pm and Charing Cross on Friday 26 July between 11-1pm.
The Economic and International Affairs Scrutiny Panel would like to thank everyone that has completed the survey so far.
@DominicCJones There are small business I have spoken to who have told me the cost of accepting card payments is the equivalent of paying a staff member’s Saturday wage. I think there are strong arguments for both sides - and I’m not sure we are ready as a society to go cashless just yet.
@DominicCJones Not aware of claims that cash makes things cheaper. Pros and cons of both. Cash helps those who struggle to budget, those who for various reasons cannot open a bank account, and allows those who have not - or are afraid to - embrace modern technology to continue to spend.
Pleased and relieved to advise that your @CI_Coop stores across the Channel Islands are unaffected by the global IT outages being reported this morning
@tim_pryor@JerseyFA Congratulations Tim - great news. Pleased to hear you’re keen to tackle the issue of access to 3G pitches for winter training, which really hits junior teams, who often find themselves at the bottom of the priority list and the cost unaffordable. Happy to support this where I can
Are you passionate about prices, being treated fairly and getting a good deal?
@JerseyConsumer is looking for council members, and also to build a new network of data/price researchers.
Come and help give a voice to consumers.

@TheOnlyGuru Yes. We are also finding some places list it as VAT but in fact it’s 5% GST (Amazon) so it’s all very confusing for the consumer - and unfair when it’s actually 20% VAT.
We’re on the case though!
Simply because a situation is ‘the way it’s always been’ doesn’t mean we should accept it and not challenge it from time to time.
Today @JerseyConsumer published a report, which aimed to discover why mortgage rates in Jersey are higher than those from the same lenders in the UK
@Mammoth799@JerseyConsumer@StatesAssembly The gas outage issue is with lawyers and progressing well, and our mortgage report should be published later this month. These campaigns make up a fraction of what we do. Happy to invite you to our office so you can see how @JerseyConsumer takes-on individuals’ cases every day
Honoured, grateful and excited to have been given the opportunity to lead the fabulous team of volunteers and dedicated officers at the @JerseyConsumer for a further (and final) 3 years by @StatesAssembly today.
Together, we will continue to give a voice to Consumers.
