You can "mine" ⛏ your past for transferable skills. Take any professional experience, list the tasks involved, then list the skills you used to carry out each task. Repeat with other experiences, and soon you'll have a list of your transferable skills (with examples!).
If you are a grad student, think of yourself as a knowledge professional in training. Academia represents only one segment of the knowledge economy. The skills you are developing in knowledge synthesis and mobilization are valuable in many contexts.
