From what I can see the grant allocated to my school funds just over 1% of the cost of a 6.5% pay rise. I just want to be able to run the school safely, with enough resources and look after the amazing team there. I don't want to be repeatedly told one thing and offered the other

Honestly, I try so hard to look at teacher pay dispassionately. I take into account retention data & the wider economy & the political view.

@MaryBoustedNEU regularly chides me for being too fair.

But, jeez, they’ve managed to make this pay deal feel like a total gut punch.

The only real ways to do this are:
(1) Reduce timetabled hours (by reducing 1265 hours directive)
(2) Reduce class sizes (to reduce marking & follow-up)
(3) Ban central data drops
(4) Remove safeguarding/pastoral requirements on schools

But are they credible? Desirable?

This fight was disgraceful, malicious and particularly odious because adults aggravated it. But schools have to deal with incidents like these often- not sometimes: often. They have to manage all of humanity. All we’ve seen here is that they responded promptly and effectively
