The question should perhaps be: “should he go back into ministry as a pastor/preacher?” I think that according to the scripture he should not. We are all in essence, disgraced because of our sin. But that does not qualify us for some future roles in the Kingdom of God. If a pastor had been charged with being with a prostitute, I would never want him to be in a pastoral position over my daughters-in-law or granddaughters. It doesn’t disqualify him for serving somewhere, but not as a pastoral leader. David was not able to build God’s temple after his sin. There are consequences.
