In all my years of pastoring, I have learned this lesson: a person’s spiritual maturity is not truly visible until they DON’T get their way. Then you see the person.

@BobKellemen I don't think anyone is saying these pastors aren't abusing their authority. They are grossly out of line. But we can't keep excusing the adult decisions many of these women made.
@megbasham THIS! She was smart enough to go to seminary and then was hired by Lifeway? She clearly wasn't that weak and vulnerable. What good organization would hire an immature and incompetent exec? She knew EXACTLY what she was doing. He didn't leave his wife for he so she got mad.
@KSPrior David Sills is depraved, but I don't understand how you can't acknowledge any responsibility of Jennifer Lyells. She was a grown woman. As a wife, I cannot understand this. She was competent enough to go to seminary and be hired by Lifeway. She knew what she was doing.
@megbasham I don't understand how those defending Lyells think she was competent enough to go to seminary and have a high position at Lifeway but she wasn't smart, competent, or spiritually mature enough to not sleep with someone's husband... For 8 years? Sills is slimy, but Lyells isn't?
@edstetzer Happy Thanksgiving! We welcome you to worship with us at Oakhurst Baptist Church on Sunday. A church revitalization 10 years ago, now a thriving church in the heart of the city.
@MikeWingerii The article ends with "We need to do everything we can to decrease the number of women who say experiencing a lack of love from their congregations was the reason they left the church."
@TGC Hatmaker began leading women astray far before 2016. There is nothing I desire to learn from her experience. We should commit to teaching biblical theology to women in the local church and perhaps they won't flock to follow false teachers on SM.
@libsoftiktok How can anyone in politics promote or celebrate violence against any politician or member of an opposing political Party? What if those who opposed him threatened his very life?
@MichelleDLesley I think the 2 are very different things. It has been a fantastic experience for many who are thriving spiritually, and active members of solid Bible teaching churches in Lynchburg.
@MichelleDLesley Perhaps we raise discerning kids with good theology who can have amazing experiences at college. It isn't a church. Would rather see my daughter on this video than an Alabama sorority rush video.
@MichelleDLesley They specifically do NOT call it chapel because it is not a church service. It is not preaching to a church congregation. Some of their speakers are in government and business.... World leaders. They also have a NON required Campus Community on Wednesday night. Taught by a pastor
@Simone_Biles If anyone should have understood, it should have been you, a female athlete who worked her entire life to be one of the best. You are in one of the only sports this hasn't infiltrated because gymnastics is so gender specific from an early age. So sad to not stand up for women.
