@CarrieScience Consider how we learn language as babies & children: first we listen, then we make the sounds (speech!), and THEN we read & write. Science is a language too 👍🏼 Design opportunities for students to talk with you and one another about the content using the vocab. Good luck!

@CarrieScience In elite science teaching you want the vocab to come as a retrieval cue for a variety of representations for a conceptual model. Frontloading vocab leads to abstract association between a term and a phrase that doesn't have sufficient meaning for a student.
