@S1apSh0es I'd also say don't count stage cautions towards advertised distance. If NASCAR wants an intermission, treat it like an actual intermission instead of an excuse to cut out laps from a race.
@S1apSh0es Best solution is close pit road during stage breaks and give the field just enough time to form up then run one caution lap after that, because otherwise we're gonna get those "debris" cautions again. Also, if a caution happens within X laps of a stage end, end the stage early.
@ham11in@S1apSh0es Because before we had stages NASCAR was throwing cautions for nothing. They threw one for a rag on the edge of the racing surface where nobody drives at Sonoma in 2016, and then there was also the debris caution where a track worker just pretended to pick up debris.
@svgenthusiast They should keep pit road closed during stages to make pit strategy a bigger factor in the race and make stage breaks 3-5 laps at superspeedways and road courses, 5-7 laps at intermediates, and 7-10 laps at short tracks.
@Kenny_Wallace@dennyhamlin Covid showed that 300 mile races were still good races. If NASCAR doesn't want to cut races, cut miles out of races. Don't touch the Daytona 500, the Talladega 500, the World 600, the Brickyard 400, the Southern 500, or the Bristol Night Race. I'd say everything else is fair game
@Kenny_Wallace@dennyhamlin Controvsersial opinion but I think the season should be shorter with a couple more off weeks for the teams, and I wouldn't mind 300 mile races. Covid proved shorter races at Darlington were still good races, so why not try that at other tracks outside of the crown jewel races?
@fudruckers0@jeff_gluck Maybe AD and RC to start with. Kurt may have also stepped in, and I'm sure Larson and the other weekday racers with kids around Brexton's age will gladly step in to support him.
@ryan92217@RacingRT1 He's hinted that 2027 may be his last year (at least at JGR). He also alluded to the fact that he thought Kyle Busch's career would be longer than his during a post race interview at Nashville, and Kyle was basically coasting to the end of it at RCR. Hamlin will be out by 2030.
@Motorsport These cars are so drastically different from the NOAPS cars that it's no surprise he is struggling, in my opinion. Ty Gibbs has had the same issues adapting, only getting his first win after 4 1/2 years in a Cup car at Bristol this year, and he beat NOAPS into submission in 2022.
