Public transit funding is in trouble as California state leaders hammer out the state budget. Your representatives and key budget leaders need to hear from you right now (well, best during business hours):
Now there is a tool to help make those calls!

Past Oakland elections have seen big money expenditures by people and groups seeking to influence voters.
This time, 1 person has put up $1.7M supporting the mayor and DA recalls, and now a whole slate of candidates hoping to sweep down-ballot races.

13 years ago, November 2 2011, tens of thousands of demonstrators shut down the Port of Oakland. The action was the centerpiece of a "general strike" that had been called by an Occupy Oakland general assembly the previous week, after the police violently cleared their camps
If someone can’t highlight & celebrate this good news because it’s at odds with their political aspirations, then they seriously need to question who they’re here for & why.
When was the last time Oakland went a month with no homicides? Before this, how long has it been since that happened? Remarkable, I'm sure. Where's the press?
Electrifying Capitol Corridor, like they did with @Caltrain would be a HUGE boost for getting more people to @49ers games. Electric trains are much faster and can run more frequently. Would take ~2 hours to get to the stadium from Sacramento
the recalls’ main proponent wants to ban gay marriage. idk what else you need to know before voting. i’m sticking with @MayorShengThao and @PPrice_Cares
Vote NO on the recalls!
The recall organizers and funders are not aligned with Oakland values
Not only do many of them not even live in Oakland, but their hateful anti-LGBTQ statements are out of line
And give me a break about Stein "building a movement." I've been organizing in the climate space for 20 years and the only time Stein has ever reached out is at the last second to demand to speak at a rally and hog the mic.
She's out for herself, not our collective future.
From a journalism perspective, an article that covers a "businesses shutting down in protest" story but doesn't list the businesses does the reader a disservice. It's like saying "protestors shut down a highway" without naming the highway.
Readers make decisions based on news
I understand clickbait-y headlines. But to not list in the article the businesses shut down or not to link to them -- makes the article something that adds to the workload of the reader. It doesn't help them. It tells readers that there is info they need and you don't have it
