Maybe racial incarceration rates are being blown out of proportion due to presentation by media when statistics show incarceration rates are highest in low income area. Is the issue "why are so many more minorities in poverty?" instead of "why are so many minorities in prison?"
Looking at statistics in percentiles can be misleading. The poverty rate in the US for whites & blacks respectively is 9% & 22% yet in raw numbers is 17.5Mil & 8.7Mil. Looking at incarceration rates, the ratio of white:black in prison and poverty is near equal #wmst1007#wmcrim3
@sandytlee129 I myself (male) and my male friends have never once discussed this. Its not really something we have any interest about #wmst1007#wmcrim3
@SchulthessJason I think a campaign to prevent ANY sex without consent is a great idea Consents the keyword here. Otherwise its called rape #WMST1007#wmvio
@megancannella I think the Fetters piece being in GQ directs the message to the sex in which the majority of violent behavior occurs. GQ being a mens mag
@megancannella Particularly in the "Women's Bodies" piece. The reading might be more effective if it was aimed at the entire population instead of one sex
@Alexismcmillen2 Does the same go for the stereotype of "assholes" being sexual aggressors and the "'nice guys' seen as desexualized..." #WMST1007#wmsex
