@StallionCornell LDS chaplains take part in leading those generic Christian services at bases where they’re assigned. I once visited a branch at a training base (led by a local civilian president) and met the first female LDS chaplain who had just finished her sermon at the Christian chapel.
@StallionCornell It varies by base. Mine holds two non-denominational services (traditional & contemporary) and a catholic mass/service each week. The base chapels also have time allotted for other groups to hold meetings if desired. Most people I know go to church off base
@StallionCornell At my base we currently only have Christian chaplains assigned but they help meet the religious needs of all faiths the best they can. I doubt there’s any chaplains in the military that are associated with the Watchtower, just Airmen that feel cultural ties to it
@TheGermanicist I met Elder Andersen, Elder Renlund, and Elder Kearon (pre-apostleship) on my mission. Then I got to meet Elder Uchtdorf at the Candy Bomber’s funeral, and Elder Christofferson at the president’s box at a BYU Football game among other church leaders.
@BYU@BYUalumni Masterpieces of World Literature with Professor Keith Lawrence. It was unique, engaging, and taught me more than I expected. Favorite BYU class by far!
@utahscamsalert @PerraRespecter @Utes_n_Roses I also bucket showered at about half of my areas. Overall I don’t harbor negative sentiments towards the mission even though living conditions weren’t great. But I can understand how @PerraRespecter and others might feel differently.
@utahscamsalert @PerraRespecter @Utes_n_Roses I served in the same mission at the same time as Spencer and am active in the church. I personally didn’t have bedbugs ever, and only experienced bad mold once when our power was out for over a week and the fridge got gross. I don’t discount any of Spencer’s account of it though
@LukeBenji We believe Christ was Jehovah incarnate. Often when Lord or God is mentioned in the OT or BoM it’s referring to Jesus. We definitely don’t diminish His divinity. Most times when we hear from the Father it is to announce the divinity and importance of Christ.
@LottoDogecoin @stats_feed I lived there for two years and got my Dominican learner’s permit. The instructor told the class in the most deadpan tone: “remember everything I’m telling you so you can pass the test. I’m sure you’ll forget everything after that.”
