@DawnFM_@TLDRNewsUK Not certian but my assumption would be that it’s a fairly minor source of income for them and not worth the added effort to deal with shipping. On the whole I imagine the above detracts/distracts from their overall goals.
@BenMH_Space@RaptorRelight@RocketLab I do wish they had a wider angle on that camera so we could see but definitely asking a lot at this stage! also another thing, was tracking the helicopter, and had been descending towards the boat that's out there, and if it had fell I dont see why they'd bother descending.
@RaptorRelight@BenMH_Space@RocketLab I suspect before the catch their speed was a lot lower hence it dangling more straight down. However the booster empty is very light, so I would suspect it to trail quite a bit behind at 150kt.
@AlexSvanArt Well that’s Interesting… Doesn’t show up on mobile nor web. Wonder if different countries see different imagery. Though perhaps it’s being extra stealthy for me 😂
@oneandoneis2@TLDRNewsUK Whilst not a full rundown, the lists they posted give the main two reasons for most unis: pay and pensions or lack of certainty around the later at least
@kfury@SpaceX In an abort Situation it would likely require all 6 just to get away from stage 1 asap, otherwise, depending on the payload mass it may require all 6 initially after stage separation to get into a stable orbit. But once in a stable orbit it should be all RVacs!
@benene_split@KamepinUa@BingoBoca@_brendan_lewis Considering they are capable of firing the RVacs at sea level I could definitely see them being used in the event of a first stage anomaly to get the starship out of there ASAP. Wouldn’t be common (hopefully) but would be good to know you can do.
@Spankyspanky5 @FelixSchlang@LabPadre Genuinely, as great and disruptive starship will be we need alternate ways of getting out of the atmosphere! Do you have any favourite methods? Personally an orbital ring with stability and uplift tethers is the most promising proposal in my opinion.
@AstroJorgen@ALXVLA_@FelixSchlang@LabPadre I believe their rational is thinking that if it was a pressurised region then it could stand to reason that it *popped* out of a local buckle, and in doing so sending the tiles in that region flying…
@DerickZill@FelixSchlang@LabPadre There was talk at one point about evaporative cooling where it’d essentially sweat cryogenic methane. Mass & construction complexity are still a huge factors and essentially cryogenically the entire windward side, whilst cool as hell would probably increase the intricacy too much
@OfficiallyUno12 @ErcXspace@StarshipFairing@SpaceX@elonmusk@NASASpaceflight I believe the idea is if you spin it up the fuel would settle in the base of the fuel tanks as opposed to just floating around. From which it would be relatively easy to pump around!
@grampygrump @ecarguide By this point the cost of ownership won’t even be up for debate! However, by most metrics and specifically for your utilisation: you likely made the most financially sound choice at this time. (6/6)
@grampygrump @ecarguide Current projections are showing that within the next 5 years there will be a decent variety of cars where even just their initial purchase price is comparable to a traditional internal combustion car. (5/6)
