An unprecedented decision: The NC State Board of Education's Independent Interscholastic Athletic Appeals Board has overturned the viral disqualification of Mallard Creek track star Nyan Brown in the NCHSAA 8A state championship meet.
Mallard Creek is now the co-8A state champion with Jordan High School.
The NCHSAA’s Board of Directors convened for an emergency meeting on Tuesday morning to confirm the decision, which was passed down from the Athletic Appeals Board.

The NCHSAA has announced its new Officers and Board Members.
Mark Garrett, of Henderson County Schools, is the next President. Andy McCormick, of Union Pines High School, is being elevated to Vice President from the Board of Directors. Dr. Stephen Gainey, the outgoing President, is becoming Past President.
There are six new members of the Board of Directors. Their terms will end in 2030.
