The Science is clear. It is evident that Floridians are ready to take on this challenge. And unlike some states, I’m glad we have a Governor who puts fact before fear and recognizes that freedom isn’t a privilege during good times but is most precious when most threatened. 2/2
An important example of leadership. @GovRonDeSantis has done what real leaders do, they weigh the facts and govern within the inalienable rights of the governed. With so many of our friends and neighbors impacted by closures we must continue on this path to reopen our state. 1/2
Featured in this am’s @politicofl health newsletter: @CaryPigman wants nurse practitioners treating the coronavirus — 180 employees of Lee Health and NCH quarantined — DOH responds to spring-breakers inquiry https://t.co/3rr32Hnwqz
No, we aren’t #COVID19 deniers. It’s a serious health risk for the elderly and immunocompromised. And prudent mitigation, isolation, and treatment plans should go on. But fear feeds on misinformation. These data points (cited) keep things in perspective https://t.co/qHtPFIuUqh
@Co0kieM0nster4@Fla_Pol@FloridaMedical I’ve heard this canard before & here’s my response: a physician who doubts the worth of his/her education because an APRN can practice primary care autonomously is a physician I don’t want touching me nor my family.
...and if an MD/DO is sooooooo insecure to feel threatened by an APRN, he had better go back to school & learn to cowboy-up @Fla_Pol@FloridaMedical
@CaryPigman It is scare tactics , we have the proper education and training to detect and treat common chronic conditions as diabetes , hypertension , hypercholesterolemia etc and maintain quality standards. Is more access to PRIMARY CARE VS NO CARE what is being proposed.
Thank you @GovRonDeSantis for signing HB 607 into law and providing more Floridians access to safe, quality healthcare. This is particularly helpful for rural Florida and underserved communities. Thank you @CaryPigman@RepJoseOliva@ben_albritton for your leadership. #FlaPol
@FloridaMedical As an emergency medicine physician what is needed at a moment like this is greater access to quality care-not cheap, self-serving, protectionist rhetoric. Shame on the FMA #FlaPol
HBs 607 & HB 389, increasing access to healthcare by allowing nurse practitioners & pharmacists to practice to the full extent of their training, are headed to @GovRonDeSantis desk! Congrats to @RepJoseOliva, @CaryPigman, @TylerSiroisHD51 and many others.
By the numbers:
7 - # of years it took to pass
24 - # of bill presentations
28,000 - # of APRNs who will have FPA
21,000,000 - # of Floridians who will benefit.
Amazing work @CaryPigman#FlaPol
#HB607 is headed to the Governor's desk! The bill increases #healthcare access for all Floridians. Thank you, Rep. @CaryPigman, Rep. @JosieTomkow, and Sen. @RepAlbritton for carrying this great bill through the Legislature.
Tomorrow, next year, we professionals & colleagues in health care will continue to wake each day prepared & eager to help our patients, ease suffering, improve health; of that I am certain @Fla_Pol@FloridaMedical
