@paula_izbicki @DanielPink A7: I used to think that I needed to get all tasks do to feel accomplished, but now I just accomplished what’s most important and prioritize my tasks. #whendecisions
@paula_izbicki @DanielPink A6: In my room, I've noted the group working to synchronize themselves in different ways. I watch as book groups, after being given a sync time to finish "work A" then sync with each other to ensure everyone finishes their part at the right time for all to succeed! #whendecisions
@paula_izbicki @DanielPink A6: In our homeroom, we do many non verbal games to work together as a unit. We also do group movement breaks. #whendecisions
@paula_izbicki @DanielPink A6. I read The Boys in the Boat. Talk about synchronization. At work our special ed team is synchronized to work completion and coordination of evaluations to get to a finish line to figure out learning profiles. #when decisions .
@paula_izbicki A5: The energy as students move towards that final stretch can feel like an urgency to many. Always a good practice to take a few minutes and sit down with each student/group to see where they're at and to revisit their to-do list from the beginning of the project! #whendecisions
@paula_izbicki @DanielPink A midpoint check in is always good practice for students and for teachers. The halfway point allows us to see how much we’ve done and see what we have left! #whendecisions
@paula_izbicki @DanielPink The “what’s” get our attention b/c we want to do/act/help/solve/check things off of our lists. Our culture does not value pausing to decide whether it is the best “when” or not. We are all too rushed, too impatient.
@paula_izbicki @DanielPink All of it makes sense. It opens up a great conversation. We need to be open about WHEN things happen! It can have so many positive effects! #whendecisions
A2: “Breaks and recess are not deviations from learning. They are part of learning.” @DanielPink Down time / social time before staff meetings will increase engagement and productivity. #whendecisions
A2 Staff meetings could integrate pre-play, discussion w movement = better focus or make it earlier in the day. Sitting without interaction is challenging at end of day. Late start Fridays would be better for Staff mtgs with food, movement & participation! #whendecisions
@paula_izbicki @DanielPink#whendecisions I’d love to see morning staff meetings!! Breakfast, coffee, and add in some yoga or movement as a group to start our day!!
@paula_izbicki A1: I read emails throughout the day no matter the time. If it’s an email that needs attention and detail, I create a draft no matter the time of day but ALWAYS revise in the morning and send.
