Many thanks to @NYAmNews for reporting on this critical issue and spotlighting @ACSCAN_NY.
Menthol cigarettes continue to impact the lives and lungs of countless New Yorkers, particularly Black New Yorkers. We're eager to see state & local leaders address this head on.
Last month, U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek H. Murthy released the “most comprehensive investigation of commercial tobacco-related health disparities” by the office to date. https://t.co/uUKlg6Mnpt

Without a deal on paid leave in NY, patients must wait longer yet for this critical relief.
As @ACSCAN_NY shared with @EliseKlineNews & @WENYTV, patients are again forced with an impossible choice between their physical & financial health.

Cheryl Campbell, volunteer with @ACSCANPA, told
@Jaxon__White of @LancasterOnline when speaking about PA's biomarker testing bill, "It can save lives." Experts agree and patients are ready for @GovernorShapiro to sign HB 1754 into law.

🚨 A momentous day marked by two legislative wins at the @WaysandMeansGOP Committee: the passage of the Joe Fiandra Access to Home Infusion Act of 2023 and H.R. 2407, the Nancy Gardner Sewell Medicare Multi-Cancer Early Detection Screening Coverage Act.
But what made the day truly special was the opportunity to be joined by the incredible Kessler McLaughlin of Sellersville, a cancer survivor and fierce champion and advocate. Kessler volunteers with @AmericanCancer and relentlessly advocates for critical legislation like H.R. 2407, which creates a pathway for Medicare to cover emerging blood-based cancer screenings that have the potential to catch cancer earlier than ever before.
As Co-Chair of the House Cancer Caucus, I look forward to continuing working alongside Kessler in our shared mission to advance cancer research and funding, increase access to screenings and life-saving treatments, and improve the lives of people with cancer and cancer survivors. Thank you to Kessler for your inspiring efforts and my colleagues for your support!
