Today, @HoustonHealth reports 1,554 new cases of #COVID19, bringing Houston's total to 46,969.

With all due respect to the AG, I would not send my child to school with these kinds of numbers.
#COVID19 is still moving rampant in our communities. In the month of August, we must do all we can to lower the numbers of positivity rates.
With all due respect to state AG Paxton, even I would be not comfortable sending my child to school.

NEW: We’re ordering closures of schools until at least Sept 8. I owe everything I have to public schools. The last thing we want are closures. But we can't open until we dramatically reduce spread. The harder we work to crush the curve the sooner kids can responsibly return.

@ElizabethFagen@HumbleISD As a parent, in the spring, I saw special education teachers do a fabulous job of turning around an upside down situation to meet the needs of students. They worked tirelessly to meet with students and parents to provide services. I could call any time for help. Amazing teachers!
