@AhmadJalal_1 But in some cases, fertility decline precedes economic growth.
I think Bangladesh and China are good example of that.
When people have less kids, they invest more in their upbringing and education. And mothers have more time to get the work.
My neighbor bought his house in 2019 for $310,000
His mortgage is $1,450 a month at 2.9%
The identical house next door just sold for $495,000
The buyer's payment is $3,800 a month at 6.8%
Same street. Same square footage. Same schools.
One family is building wealth. The other is just trying to survive.
This is why nobody is selling.
After a certain age, no particular skill matters as much as the ability to earn money while staying close to your family and spending time with them.
At that stage of life, having the freedom to work from home, earn a decent income, and be there for your loved ones becomes more important than anything else.
Why young graduates are leaving.
When i graduated in 2003, my starting salary was 18k/month.
How to define the value of that money in today's terms ??
1- My university fee payback period was 8 months (1 month salary repaid 1 semester fee).
2- It could buy 3 tolas of gold. 1/5
Same disturbing experience. Almost all kids I meet I feel as if they are not living in a country but waiting in a transit lounge with their hand carry bags for the next connecting flight.
They ask the same question, sarcastically, and dream of moving to other counties as soon as an opportunity arrives.
I think our generation failed intellectually seeding them with what our elders taught us.
@Suna212925 It's not easy.
1) gain experience
2) Make yourself indispensable
3) gradually leverage your power to gain better package & position
It's not a game that everyone can pull off.
Private jobs are no longer path to financial freedom and comfortable retirement.
They are modern form of slavery. Give employees enough to survive but never enough to become financially independent.
Cost of undergraduate degree in #Pakistan:
🔴 Tier 1 Uni: Rs 4 - 8 million
🔴 Tier 2 Uni: Rs 2 - 4 million
🔴 Tier 3 Uni: Rs 1 - 2 million
Now the other side of the ledger.
Salaries have not moved. Real purchasing power is down from 2015. Parents are paying more, in harder-earned money, for a wage that buys less than it did 10 years ago.
And graduate unemployment runs at roughly 3x the rate for those who do not go to university.
We are charging families their life savings for a qualification that makes a young person more likely to be jobless.
So what is the degree for? And who is it really serving?
It is a transfer of wealth from desperate parents to #Universities that build nothing in our youth.
In 2005, HONDA Civic price was 8 lakh. Even average 2-3 years experienced analyst could afford it based on their 6-12 months pay.
Today same car costs 85 lakh. 2-3 years experienced person should earn 8-15 lakh to be able to purchase same car from 6-12 months salary.
Also, there is only one thing Pakistan is producing in surplus on sustained basis - population !!
According to "comparative advantage" theory of trade, we can only export what we are good at producing cheaper than most of the world. 5/5
