As social workers, we need to bring awareness & provide solutions to the major issue of human trafficking, which continues to impact hundreds of thousands of individuals each year. Social workers’ challenge social injustice & address social problems #NASW#WKUSocialWorkHT
Human trafficking is a major problem worldwide. It is important to recognize the signs & prevention measures to avoid being trafficked. As social workers, it is our duty to provide resources & info to bring awareness to this issue, to try & stop it. #NASW#WKUSocialWorkHT
Thousands of human trafficking cases are reported each year in the U.S, with many more going unnoticed. Methods of trafficking consist of promises, flattery, offerings, etc. As social workers’ it is our duty to protect & serve the vulnerable & oppressed #WKUSocialWorkHT#NASW
@DavidPa86591889 I agree 100% with this! This should not be news because it should be a right. You are right when saying we still have a long way to go. As social workers we must advocate for this & stand up for those who cannot themselves. #NASW#WKUSocialWorkPolicy
@austinbweiler Thank you for providing this resource! I think this is a great step towards helping KY move forward in the right direction. Social workers’ advocate for the vulnerable & oppressed, while respecting the inherent dignity & worth of all people. #NASW#WKUSocialWorkPolicy
Lexington is set to ban conversion therapy, due to it being a form of “conversion torture” for young individuals. Social workers’ challenge social injustice & respect the inherent dignity & worth of the person #NASW#WKUSocialWorkPolicy @ErinWarfel https://t.co/PxSE8h1zJ6
@KimberlyB_BSW I stand with this as well. Social workers’ advocate for those who cannot themselves. We must stand up & fight for these individuals who are trying to better their lives here in the United States. #NASW#WKUSocialWorkPolicy
@TammyVantrease The DREAM Act needs to be passed into law. This would help millions of individuals with many different aspects of their life, including gaining the freedom they deserve. Social workers’ advocate for the vulnerable & oppressed. #NASW#WKUSocialWorkPolicy
Biden issued Exec. Orders to address discriminatory housing pract., advance racial equity in underserved comm., & eliminate federal private prisons. Social workers’ advocate towards ending all forms of racial disparities. @ErinWarfel#NASW#WKUSocialWorkPolicy
@EmileeNealy I have never thought about this before. I believe it is highly unethical for prisons to use this as a mean of getting around the responsibility of taking care of their elderly inmates. I’m in full support of compassionate release, but not as a mean of ageism. #WKUSocialWorkPolicy
@ElanaJo62267822 I believe this is something that could benefit a lot of individuals, as well as their families. The dying process is often very long, emotional, & tiresome for all those involved. This can decrease a lot of suffering, as well as giving individuals their freedom to choose.
Older Americans Act (OAA) provides services to our most vulnerable elders 60 & older. OAA is needed for seniors to stay in their homes (85% were able to w/this assistance), while also saving taxpayers $. Social workers advocate for the vulnerable. @ErinWarfel#WKUSocialWorkPolicy
@ElanaJo62267822 I believe keeping families together plays a crucial part in a child’s life & into their adulthood. As social workers, we have to make the most ethical & professional decision, based on our client’s condition(s). #WKUSocialWorkPolicy
@kaylabrookeMSW Thank you for bringing awareness to this issue. Many do not think of the problems in which young children may be facing, especially when it comes to drugs & infants. Through educating these parents, I think this number could majorly decrease. #WKUSocialWorkPolicy
For the 2nd year in a row, the state of KY had the highest child abuse rate in the entire country. 23/1,000 children suffered some type of abuse. Social workers’ primary responsibility is to promote the well-being of clients. #NASW#WKUSocialWorkPolicy@ErinWarfel
@Britt_Spencerrr COVID-19 has impacted millions of individuals, leaving them depressed & anxious. I can see why suicide was ranked #10. The need for mental health services continually grows & new policies need to be implemented in order to make a change. #WKUSocialWorkPolicy
@CaterCamryn1 Especially due to COVID-19, there has been a major increase in the need of mental health services. Depression & anxiety have also been shown to majorly increase in teens due to stress, lack of interaction, etc. Policies definitely need to be implemented. #WKUSocialWorkPolicy
Due to COVID-19, there has been a major increase in depression & anxiety in individuals. The need for mental health services are continuing to grow. “Social workers’ primary goal is to help people in need & to address social problems” #NASW#WKUSocialWorkPolicy@ErinWarfel
@HollyyatesM This should have been implemented way before 1996. Before, workers were left with no insurance if they changed jobs, which could severely affect not only their own life & health, but their families as well. #WKUSocialWorkPolicy
@BswJamie@ErinWarfel I had no idea the prevalence of MS was so high. This disease can change an individual’s entire life, especially if they cannot afford basic health care. Thank you for advocating for this & bringing awareness to this problem. #WKUSocialWorkPolicy
