Final MRes Year 2 seminar all done! Got to present some of my results looking at the effects of substrate brightness and habitat complexity on intertidal communities. Time for that final stretch to the thesis finish line! @mqnatsci
And that’s a wrap!! The final sampling day for my thesis. Could not have done it without an amazing team: @kristine_marine, Holly Cunningham, Kaelan Crawford and Ambre Garnier, thank you all so so much for your time and hard work! Felt a little bittersweet finishing up…
It is once again time for #SciCommSeptember! This year, let’s talk about how paleontologists do field work. Since my speciality is marine invertebrate paleo, I’ll be discussing that; other paleo folks please feel free to talk about your own methods!
My MRes is published! 🥳 In my first publication, J. Alroy and I calculated and compared rates of community energy use for three major terrestrial groups: 🦇 🦆🐀
We found strong group-specific differences across the globe 🌍 -> https://t.co/CirL0oO1s4

Geoscience is male-dominated & ableist. Neither should be a barrier for learning about how our Earth works or contributing to the field via research or industry. This v important article is by my Honours student @EBeidatsch - read & share! @UniNewEngland

Feeling fortunate to have finally graduated from my Masters of Research surrounded by friends and family, also to be given the opportunity to deliver the graduate student address reflecting on my degree. @Macquarie_Uni#mqgrads
Glad to have finally graduated my Masters of Research at @Macquarie_Uni! Had a fantastic ceremony and great time surround by friends and family #mqgrads
I LOVE my labmates! They really are fantastic. Reliable material processing, top notch writing, and always there to lend a hand with training. They’re supportive, patient and hilarious! @OpalFossil@CastlePalaeo#ThisIsMyScience#PintAU22#AvidResearch
1⃣ ⚡️Hot off the press⚡️Our new paper in #EarthScienceReviews reviews ways to define the base of the Cambrian and presents new integrated #multiproxy data from the #Ediacaran - #Cambrian of Mongolia. Check it out! And check out this thread! https://t.co/VhDvSzT0rH
My first, first author paper is out!! 🐟🚤🎣 We looked at recreational fishing marine debris, an area that’s previously been overlooked in marine debris research 🌊 @MEG_MQ@urchinhunter@CardnoAustralia

I've got big news! I'LL BE ON TV!! I've had to keep it a secret for a year! I was interviewed by BBC and PBS to be part of the new documentary that will air this Friday on BBC and May 11th on PBS/Nova. I can't believe this is actually happening!!
And it has been yet another amazing week of progress! Managed to start putting some of my core samples in acid!!
Very excited to start seeing what beasties I'll find ❤🐚
My first article is published 🥳
This was part of my MRes work and showed differences in in marlin feeding using stable isotopes, particularly through the use of sulphur!

Also finished cutting all the core I'm planning to thin section! Shoutout to @CastlePalaeo for making sure I didn't cut my fingers off 😁
These will be sent to @200micron at @litholab_une for processing! Looking forward to seeing the beautiful carbonate textures 🥰

What a week it has been! Ended up hitting 2 major milestones in my project progress!
Finished drilling powders for all of my core material which will be sent to @UniAdelSciences for carbon and oxygen isotopic analysis! Can't wait to see what the data will look like 😁

If you see me in a coffee shop staring off into space, just know that I am doing paleontology. That’s when paleontologists pine for the field, consider which prehistoric animals would’ve been the best pets (wiwaxia obvs), cry about funding, do phylo. I don’t know what to tell ya
