I'd like to raise a concern about a potential sybil issue on @AbstractChain.
If you are a long-time user/creator/investor/player and care about XP on the chain, this post is for you.
We don't know what XP will be used for yet, but if there are going to be future rewards or perks, as a long-time user I wouldn't want XP to be distributed this easily - and neither should you.
So what's actually happening:
- After March 11, Abstract cut passive XP from holdings (NFTs, memecoins) to incentivize onchain participation.
- The team started distributing XP to vote streakers.
- At first this didn’t seem like a problem, but the chain now has ~40k wallets that only do vote streaks and literally nothing else.
- This number has been growing exponentially, with 5k–10k XP per wallet, resulting in ~200M–400M weekly XP distribution (simply put, ~60% of all weekly XP goes to these accounts).
- Sybils/bots have started taking advantage of this.
- A massive number of Bronze accounts began moving together after March 18 (you can see this in the data below).
- A small portion of those accounts reached Gold tier this week (around 6x the average number of new Gold users).
- Gold tier will likely double its user count within a month or two if this continues.
- I remember when even getting 10k XP or reaching Gold rank was considered premium - that is no longer the case.
I understood and supported cutting passive XP from NFTs and memecoins.
However, I don’t understand why this level of XP is being distributed to these sybil/bot accounts that provide zero real value to the network.
Why was XP taken away from people who actually invested(via Apps, NFTs, Memecoins) in the network and started being given to these accounts?
Tagging @0xCygaar for visibility.
If you need proof, I’ll include all the data below this tweet.
Green indicates high-activity weeks for that subtier.
Red indicates low-activity weeks.
(You can see the difference pre and post March 11)

Let’s call it what it is:
@OnchainChemists Rugpull Bakery’s reward process rugged us.
Not because we broke a rule.
Because the team acknowledged the setup during the season, said any action would be for next season, let us keep spending, then excluded us after the season ended.
And even their own stated enforcement does not hold:
- unmodified wallets were excluded
- other upgraded AGWs were paid
- 4+ ETH of expected payout was withheld
- ~$2k in VRF / infra losses were not refunded
- 32 ETH was deployed to compete
“Made whole” is false.
Decision was Retroactive, Selective and Unfair.
This is bigger than a single payout dispute.
Whether people agree with the wallet setup or not, the concern is the precedent being set. Participants were apparently aware of the team’s position during the season, continued competing under that understanding, continued deploying capital, and only after the season concluded were rewards withheld.
Competitive ecosystems depend on predictable rules and consistent enforcement. If a team identifies a problem, it should be addressed immediately and not after the outcome has already been determined.
What worries me most is the impact this has on community trust. Thousands of users are watching how projects and teams handle situations like this. When enforcement appears retroactive or selective, people naturally begin questioning whether future participation is worth the risk.
Abstract has attracted passionate builders, players, creators, and incredibly loyal supporters from Day 1. Decisions that create uncertainty around rewards, expectations, and rule enforcement don’t just affect the individuals involved..they affect sentiment across the entire ecosystem.
Personally, situations like this influence where I choose to spend my time, attention, and capital. Trust is difficult to earn and easy to lose. I hope the team reconsiders how this was handled and works toward a resolution that restores confidence for everyone watching.
Abstract is not a small community, regardless of how some may portray it. Thousands of users are paying attention, and the way situations like this are handled will shape how people view participation in the bakery/eco moving forward in Season 8 and beyond.
