@BillAckman 6) Larceny (misdemeanor) and grand-larceny (felony) are both crimes and thresholds for each is determined by the state. The penalty for a misdemeanor or felony and any mitigating (hunger, mental health) or aggravating (reincidence) circumstances is up to the states to decide...

@BillAckman 5) Bail reform is mostly a state issue. Bail is in place as financial coercion to show up to court when charged, otherwise you lose bail money and a warrant for arrest is issued. Removing freedom for non-violent charges (without a conviction) only due to lack of funds is unjust.

@BillAckman 4) We need a sensible and non-political risk/opportunity tradeoff amd competitive analysis and overhaul of regulatory framework to unleash competitiveness without haphazardly dismantling most regulations. We also need to strengthen laws to curb abuses as part of risk mitigation.

Those can lead to criminal/civil liability. Other speech you shouldn't fear government consequences for exercising your right.

Ours allows us to itemize and deduct taxes from a large purcahase (boat, car), medical expenses, child care expenses, charitable contributions, theft/casualty losses. It's not a flat percentage of income for all humans, there are nuances.

However, your employer doesn't know your mortgage situation (mortgage interest deduction), medical expenses, other income streams, etc. What was deducted in year from earnings and what ACTUALLY had to be paid needs to be balanced by April 15.
