While necessary, anyone thinking this lockdown will be easy hasn't spoken to a disabled person reliant on professional services to live. Since the announcement, I've had services canceled left & right without any alternatives offered

@IDEASAU Thank you! I called and they said cleaners & carers are essential workers. Once I mentioned this to my support agency, they changed their story & are now saying they have just chosen not to send out workers. Unfortunately for me it means living in filth & mould for the next week
I’m not mad that Ableds discovered accessibility, I’m mad that half of those sharing it belong to Reddit threads trying to tear disabled people’s lives apart for using the exact same technology they just found today as evidence that that disabled person is “faking.”
Hi to all who read this. Have been away from twitter as I've been going through much NDIS problems which has left my mental health in a bad place. Who knew it could be so hard for a paraplegic to get a wheelchair let alone everything else I need? Much love to all who need it
@Sir_GeeOh@blindpackrat A lot of people store their apps on their SD card to free up space on the phone memory. Cant save apps in the cloud. Have used an SD card in every phone I've owned, never once had one corrupted.
This is happening to far too many of us. It is a national disgrace that we disabled people & our families have to constantly fight against an unethical & unjust system just to get our day to day needs met. #NDIS should be helping us live with dignity not saving $ while we suffer
Called to get an appointment with a new psychologist. All booked, I ask if the building wheelchair accessible? Of course, the answer is 'no'. It's so common, it shouldn't upset me, but it does. It's 2021, disabled people deserve psychological treatment too
#DisabilityRights
This!
My life has been made 100x more stressful & exhausting because of NDIS & I'm yet to see any benefits. Dealing with this system has pushed me to the point of contemplating suicide, fighting for supports I still don't have. IT SHOULDN'T BE THIS WAY. #NDISfail
Folks.
I use a fucking iPhone like every other goddamn milennial.
I’m still deafblind.
Get over it.
If this weren’t a pandemic I’d be headed to a bar to have someone buy me a drink about now.
@Zusia@snarkbat They dont want to educate themselves, sadly they're comfortable in their ignorance. It's a similar story with wheelchairs; they see someone get up from a wheelchair & automatically scream "faker". Ummmm, no. There's such a thing as ambulatory wheelchair users. It's ignorance.
@sarahinthesen8 @WithDownes @dailytelegraph Not only is she body shaming women, she's thrown an ableist slur in there for good measure. Shame on her, her husband, and her disgusting views.
*trigger warning: ableist slur*
So this is what religion has come down to.... ableist slurs & body shaming. Done by another woman no less & one who holds considerable influence over a lot of people here & around the world. Well, this disabled woman says shame on her & her husband
Wife of pastor Brian Houston (the Prime Minister’s mate from Hillsong) tells women to loose weight so they can keep their husbands and don’t “feel like a retard”.
Some good journalism here from the @dailytelegraph 👇
